For over a century, MICHELIN has been the food world’s north star (pun intended) to the world’s best restaurants. The scope of the Guide now offers a wider lens than ever before—with a new constellation of cities and restaurants added to its recs, we think it makes for some pretty appetizing stargazing. Without further ado, here are the 2023 Star and Bib Gourmands selections in Vancouver.

Tucked into the upper story of a delightfully faded building in Chinatown, Kissa Tanto invites you into the little jewel that is the House of Plenty. First we will eat! Such supreme satisfaction we take from the delicate flavours of Japan and the warmth of ltalian cooking and feel it’s right to bring these culinary forces together to do a little dance. Why not? Soul mates are they not with their mutual love of noodles, rice, and proteins in their pure, delicious uncooked form? Think of the cool elegant crudo and cruda, crisp exotic salads, playful pastas, and rich, tender meats that we shall sink our teeth into. And whilst doing so, we will drink! We will wipe the dust off of the My Private Tokyo, inhale the burgundy scent of Barolo, sip tiny glasses of fine sake, and down chilly glasses of beer.

Worth the wait! Excellent ambiance and service. The menu had unique Italian-Japanese flavour fusions that was all delicious. The cocktails were great and beautifully presented as well. Can’t wait to come back and try the omakase experience!

For centuries, it has been Chinese custom to pair dim sum’s delicious bite-size dumplings, buns and other small snacks with freshly brewed tea for morning and mid-afternoon meals. This pairing led to the expression “yum cha,” which not only means “to drink tea,” but also symbolizes getting together with friends and family.

At Little Bird, we’re starting our own tradition. We believe that “yum cha” means getting together with friends and family for dim sum at any time. Not just paired with aromatic teas, but also amazing local craft beers and wines.

The staff were very helpful in helping navigate the menu, and all of the dishes we ordered were excellent, beautiful quaint space but slightly tight seating, otherwise excellent!

This was our final meal in Vancouver before moving to Montreal. We spent many good meals here with friends and ourselves. Highly recommend. It was a good sendoff meal and we got to treat a friend who is a new customer!
