   Food was excellent. The service was a bit lacking. Would still return maybe not on a Sunday night with the kitchen closing soon after we arrived.

   I sit at the bar because it’s a great place to get great service and usually the bar tenders usually care about the customers and have knowledge of the food. Can’t say this was the case Sadly!!!! I have been there a few times and twice the bartenders acted like they didn’t care that we were there!!

   Our wine was filled with sediment at the bottom (like a lot) and when mentioned to the waitress she just fought h back an excuse and didn’t even offer a new glass. Then came back and asked if we wanted dessert menus when our food hadn’t even come out yet. The people that sat next to us after we arrived were served quickly so she clearly forgot to put our order in and didn’t apologize or provide an ETA. Took nearly an hour to get our food from the time we ordered. Still no apology from her. Then the cheese sub I asked for on my salad was not provided and when I had to ask her again she brought out a different cheese than I asked for. When the bill came I had to tell her to remove the wine before she even offered. Not good service even for a casual restaurant and these prices were up there. Will not be going back and will not recommend to anyone.

   Such friendly hosts and servers. The food and drinks were amazing and the restaurant was very dog friendly.

   Typically I really love Madison, I think maybe we just got really unlucky but they really fell short on almost every single front this time around. Both our dishes were overcooked/dry, the shrimp app lacked flavors and ingredients (just tasted like plain butter), and our server was impossible to find and gave us really poor service overall. She wasn’t attentive to any of her tables, and would go missing for super long periods of time, fortunately the busser who was working helped us get what we needed. I will say our drinks were yummy and the churros were tasty! Last thing - One thing that really threw us off is that I had put a request on open table when reserving to not be too close to the live music to make sure my husband and I could hear each other (we’ve had an issue with this in the past), this time there were so many tables open and available both outside inside and by the bar so I figured yay it won’t be a problem, butttt the hostess didn’t say hi or greet us professionally and then put us at the table closest to the live music as possible (either she didn’t read the note or misread it). Anyways, we decided that was our last time going to Madison on Park; the quality of the food, the service, and overall experience all have taken a hit and ultimately there are better options in San Diego.

   Julia, so sorry for your experience at Madison yesterday. We looked into what happened. The host thinks that while she was not there at the host stand, another guy Berfi, who is a cocktail runner, stepped in to help and get you seated. Like you said, he probably did not read the note. But I think they moved you to a bar booth which in my opinion is the best for jazz nights, you can hear the music and still have a conversation. Jazz on Tuesday tends to be louder than the jazz on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. If you ever come back, which we hope you will, maybe try one of those nights. As for the food, we're taking that dish off the menu tomorrow and as for the service, that server is being spoken to.
