Mia Francesca features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio. It was one of the first restaurants in Chicago to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, simple, rustic cooking, friendly service, and fair prices.

Waiting for a table at the beautiful antique bar is part of the charm of Mia Francesca. The plush upstairs dining room and lounge can be reserved for private events, as can the more intimate coach house tucked away behind the restaurant. The food was fresh and distinctive as it has been for over the past 30 years ago . We at the Bar. The bar tender was very attentive. I would rate Mia Francesca on the top 10 best Italian restaurants in Chicago.

We’ve been to Mia Francesca so many times but it has been a while. We were very disappointed in the food. The quality is just not the same. Calamari didn’t taste fresh. I have never had to send a dish back…until now. The pasta dish I ordered tasted like vinegar. I don’t even understand why. It was a brown butter and mushroom pasta. It was so tart it was inedible. I even had another person in my party taste it and they agreed. Such a simple dish, hard to get it wrong but they did. With all the other Italian restaurant options in the city, don’t think we will be going back any time soon. Too bad, I really used to like the restaurant.

Overall, the experience was good. The waiter and staff are very attentive as soon as you sit down. The food and drinks were excellent and out to our table quickly. The only thing that took away from the experience was just how quickly they were clearing our plates and glasses. We felt as if we were purposefully being rushed.
