Take a stroll down Monmouth Street, London and you'll discover a little piece of England that will remain forever French. Mon Plaisir, London's oldest Family run French Restaurant, has been a purveyor of the finest French cuisine for over half a century. The entente cordial hits you as you enter, and the French atmosphere is as thick as the waiters French accents. You'll find yourself surround by wonderfully original French artefacts, you could find yourself leaning against the pewter topped bar which once graced the lounge of a Lyonnais brothel.

From the food, service, quality, and lack of care and consideration. They did nothing to make the dining experience better. The wine was bad, they coursed out the meal poorly, and the owner was very rude.

                                                                                                              We had an absolutely wonderful time at Mon Plasair. The food was delicious and very valued for money. The service was excellent and everyone was friendly. We loved it !

                                                                                                              We've been visiting Mon Plaisir for almost 50 years. We've never been disappointed with the food or the service, which has stayed at a consistantly high level through out. However on our recent visit, we had one disappointment which was that the Tarte Tatin was not on the menu. A plea to the kitchen please, reinstate the Tarte Tatin!

                                                                                                              Having been to Mon Plasir in the past, was keen to return as memories were good. However, it turns out there has been a change of ownership apparantly. And a big change to the menu too. And extraordinarily, we booked in 5.45 expecting it to be heaving, but it was deserted. And remained very very quiet. The food was fine, all very pleasant but small portions and therefore fairly pricey for what you got. Service was good, but there was hardly anyone else to serve so that's understandable. Staff were charming. But frankly if they are to survive, they need to rethink the menu and prices. That said, there seemed to be a fairly good value set pre theatre menu. But we ate a la carte as we had time. So, disappointing. I wish them well, but they will need to improve.

                                                                                                              Food was nice except for the duck appetizer. It was so dry so tasteless. We ordered scallops and gambas that was nice and beef tartare which was also good.

Noise of dumb waiter moving up and down was ridiculous and excruciating. Ambience in general a little deflated. Decent value for money.
