   One of our favorite restaurants! We are really picky when we eat out and Morcilla is a great spot that doesn’t disappoint. With the economy being how it is and grocery shopping so expensive we have definitely dined out less and less. This is our third time here and the service has remained great, food delicious and ambiance is perfect. I highly recommend!

   My wife and I are not neophytes when it comes to dining out. We have been very lucky to have dined in Milan, Florence, Venice, Copenhagen, New York and Washington DC in 2024. With that in mind, we were left wanting after our recent visit to Morcilla. Our meal began with a couple of cocktails. Our drinks came with four garnishes. (We experienced the same thing earlier this fall elsewhere in Pittsburgh.) Some believe more is better. NOT TRUE. One wants to drink their cocktail, not to go on a fishing expedition to rid your glass of unwanted items. My wife and I tried five dishes and they were OK. The ham was fine, but I have had the same from the local grocery store at thirty percent of the cost. We had a small anchovy dish. We had been wowed with anchovy dishes in Venice and Copenhagen earlier in 2024. There was no wow here, merely a shrug. Our chorizo dish was also just OK. The service we received was fine. Other reviewers consider Morcilla a gem. This gem was a little tarnished for us.

   Our server Rachel was delightful. Very enthusiastic and informative. Knew the food and wine quite well. Food excellent, especially oyster mushrooms, scallops crudo and gildas particularly good.

   The perfect spot for a birthday dinner. We were blown away by the quality of each dish, but the two dishes that stuck out the most were the mussels and the pork ribs. The kitchen staff also showed brilliant calm and focus, no matter how busy it got, and maintained exceptional service.

   The temperature in the restaurant was uncomfortably warm, I had to strip down to a T-shirt and it was still too hot. The service also seemed rushed with new plates coming out before we could finish the last ones. The food is good and interesting, and maybe we were there on a bad night. In sum, I wouldn’t go back.

    We dined at Morcilla last night and absolutely adored it! Greta was our server, and she did a wonderful job guiding us through our first dining experience here. We got the scallop crudo first, followed by the goat rodeo dairy cheese, the fried artichokes, oxtail montadito, and the duck confit. Every single bite we put in our mouths was a perfectly curated explosion of flavors, I was truly impressed by every morsel. The desserts were also incredible, the goat cheese flan was decadent and rich which the concord grape sorbet offered a tart, light contrast. The Monastrell wine suggested by Greta paired superbly with dessert as well. Choosing to come here for our anniversary was a wonderful choice, we are already planning our next visit!
