We were very late for our table booking but it was not a problem for the staff who accommodated us without any fuss. The Fleece overlooks the expanse of Witney’s beautiful Church Green. The Ox Barn is a 56-seater destination restaurant under the direction of Head Chef, Charlie Hibbert. The nineteenth century former oxen house is the newest addition to the family of meticulously restored farm buildings. A state-of-the-art piece of agricultural architecture at its conception, Caryn Hibbert worked meticulously to preserve the soaring archways and original Cotswold stone rubble walls, to now house a modern, dining destination - including a contemporary bar and seven and a half metre Charvet open kitchen - to allow for an authentic, heritage-rich dining experience, enabled by today’s best culinary technologies.

The Horse and Groom Inn aims to provide great food and drink in a quintessential, traditional 16th century country inn. Dining is relaxed and informal in a friendly atmosphere. Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times. We also have a comfortable outdoor terrace and garden area with picturesque babbling brook. We also have a small in-pub coffee shop and delicatessen! Selling the best of local produce, bread, milk and a selection of luxury food and drink items, the shop is open whenever we are. We also provide great coffees to drink in or take away. Our menu focusses on great steaks and seafood (vegetarian/ vegan always available). We are seriously passionate about patties and are based in Bourton-On-The-water, also known as ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’. Our restaurant sits circa 30 guests making it a small, exclusive place to come and eat. Since opening, we have made it our mission to get our hands on the best possible ingredients. We also use dry aged beef with a great fat content supplied by Aubrey Allen, which marries up with our strong, unique flavour combinations giving you the ultimate bite! We cant forget about or delightful buns, which are handmade daily by a wonderful local baker. All the flour used for our buns is made up of Cotswold flour sourced from local farmers. We also pride ourselves on having a vibrant cocktail scene. All of our cocktails are bespoke to us and our syrups and flavourings are made in house!
We are a group of six elderly walkers who visit a different cotswold pub every week. We were very late for our table booking but it was not a problem for the staff who accommodated us without any fuss. We all had a different menu choice yet all agreed the food was excellent and with generous portions. All the beer drinkers were satisfied including the two Guinness drinkers. Great value for money.
A great selection of dishes, beautifully presented. The seafood squid ink pasta was a delicious choice. The restaurant was immaculate and the tables were well spaced. The log burner gave a lovely atmosphere and the garden area is beautiful too. The menu was great value for the quality of the dishes.
We were originally seated by a door which was letting in a draft . We asked to be moved. A young waiter was asked. He really didn’t want to move us despite there being several no shows. He went over to another member of staff and said “you sort it, they want to move” it was really rude.
Food was ok…… lacked seasoning and despite menu sounding impressive it isn’t quite there yet.
