A celebration of Sherry, Wine, Tapas, & Friends. Influenced by the culture of sip-a-little-bit-of-this-and-eat-a-little-bit-of-that, Tapavino began in August 2012 as Australia’s first Sherry Bar in Sydney, in a little lane-way not unlike something you would find in the cobblestoned alleyways of Spain. Helped by the beautiful warm vibe that greets you as you step inside and take a seat among floor-to-ceiling wine bottles, Tapavino was named runner-up in Sydney Morning Herald's 'Best New Bar' Awards within 4-months of opening. 12-months later we were named 'Best Bar with Food'.

This is the same place as the office of Kanematsu Gosho, the pioneer of Australia – Japan trades, was situated in 1980. Masuya Restaurant opened in 1993, then full renovation was implemented in 2006.The approx. five meters long sushi counter, designed by architect Robert Toland in ‘kabuki red’ with an idea of the stage of kabuki, has since fascinated not only local Australian customers but also various people with different backgrounds.A showcase displays more than 20 different sushi ingredients everyday including locally produced fish, which is purchased on the day. Other carefully selected ingredients are wagyu beef, free-range pork, and seasonal vegetables. Specially designed tableware of Malcolm Greenwood and tables made of Tasmanian Oak is also creating a great atmosphere. Enjoy your time in this amazing space of hospitality.

We had an amazing dinning experience for our wedding anniversary. The food, the staff, the atmosphere, the comfort and even the music playlist were perfectly synced to make for an incredibly fab dinner. Every dish we ordered lived up to and surpassed expectations - even the cooked to order bread rolls were perfect to mop up the garlic butter from our prawn dish.

First time experience, loved it! All I will fault is the music is too loud and not curated for the space. Maybe more mellow, lounge or jazz. It’s just not right. Also, whilst our waiter was not unpleasant he seemed rushed and inattentive. Almost walking away before we finished speaking. This was off putting. But we will be back. The dressing on the butter lettuce divine!

We were looking for somewhere to eat close to our hotel in Circular Quay and found Tapavino by chance. We are real fans of tapas and regular visitors to Spain and the Canary Isles and Tapavino did not disappoint. We were seated upstairs as we had pre-booked and even at 6.15 the place was busy. Menu offered a lovely range of familiar and not so familiar dishes. As always, we over ordered (!) but the food was gorgeous. Friendly, attentive but unobtrusive service made for a perfect final evening for us in Sydney.
