The Blackbird Bar and Restaurant, at 37-39 Leven Street in the Bruntsfield area of south-west Edinburgh, serves modern Scottish cuisine. It is located close to The Meadows public park, less than 10 minutes by car or taxi from Waverley and Haymarket Railway Stations; Edinburgh Castle and the city centre are around 20 minutes' walk away. The exposed stone walls of its traditional, tavern-like interior give it an authentically Scottish atmosphere and it also has a beer garden in which to enjoy an al fresco drink or bite to eat in the warmer summer months.     Great service there was a mix up with the booking. We were booked for Sunday lunch but they only do it once a month on the 1st Sunday, the manager booked us in for January and offered us a free lunch in the bar area. Lunch was good the burger was excellent but the steak pie was just ok the gravy was very watery. The staff were very attentive and friendly, even though the bar area was very busy. We will certainly be back for our Sunday lunch and there is a lovely outdoor terrace beside the bar which we will visit during the summer.

    Really good experience! Service was fantastic, food was amazing, drinks were tasty! Only thing, you feel a little on top of other guests as the venue is quite small. Didn’t ruin the experience at all though. Will be back!!

    Fantastic service, delicious food and great atmosphere. We were greeted by name which was a nice touch and felt very well attended to throughout our meal. We all enjoyed our starters and mains very much as they were cooked to order. Will definitely return on our next visit to Edinburgh.

    Best Japanese food I've tasted - absolutely delicious. Especially recommend the Teryaki Salmon, Gyozas & the Aubergine. Celebrating a 21st birthday & Sarah was amazing, recommending delicious dishes & surprising us with a birthday desert with fresh fruit. Lovely restaurant with authentic Japanese feel - will definitely be back.
