Price: Expensive•Cocktail Bar•4.5(171)We invite you to Dr. Funk where you, too, can escape.
Dr. Funk's offers a relaxed vibe that transports you into a 19th Samoa tiki venue with signature cocktails that include our Mai Tai and the Dr. Funk. Our Signature dishes include our Dr. Funk Burger and Hawaiian Ribs.
We are located near O'Flaherty's Irish Pub and the Old Spaghetti Factory in the heart of downtown San Jose.
Trader Vic and Donn Beach invented the tiki motif at their California restaurants of the 1930s that would entice generations for nearly a century. Our eclectic décor, too, draws influence from both Trader Vic and Donn Beach.
Both Trader Vic and Donn Beach sought not to create a fantasy world that was hinged on any single location; but rather one that encompassed the concept of escapism by incorporating and embracing elements from the Caribbean, to the South Pacific, China, Singapore and beyond!
In doing so, they created a backdrop that was thrilling, fascinating and alluring—one we wish to pay homage to.
Giorgio's Italian Food & Pizzeria - San Jose
Price: Moderate•Italian•4.4(217)In 1959, Frank and Tina D'Ambrosio decided to start a new restaurant venture along with their "Paisans" Mario and Enza Volpe, after Frank had much success with his first restaurant, the original "Frankie, Johnnie, and Luigi Too! In Mountain View, CA. Named after a good friend of theirs, they opened the original "Giorgio's" in the Foxworthy Shopping Center in San Jose, CA. One year later, cousins Anthony and Louise Dambruoso, affectionately known to the family as "Sash and Lou", took control of the restaurant and ran it for the next eight years. Pictures and paintings of these folks still grace the walls of the establishment today. In 1968, Frank's four sons assumed control of the restaurant and still own and operate it to this day. In 1997 they opened a second location in Milpitas, CA, where they still offer the highest standard of quality food, service, and value to their customers. - KKatherineSan Francisco Bay Area •5 reviews4.0Dined 1 day agoThe food was amazing but the service was only average. Our waiter was very busy with other tables and kept us waiting a few times (to place our order or bring us the check). He forgot to offer us Parmesan cheese on our pasta entrees and failed to mention that they had run out of the lava cake when he brought us the dessert menus. The overall experience was amazing, however. It was a wonderfully quiet place to catch up with an old friend, taste authentic Italian food, and relax in the ambiance of what feels like an Italian villa. We will definitely be back! - TTamishaSan Francisco Bay Area •1 review4.0Dined on Feb 15, 2025It was nice. Small table. I felt the selections were less than other places I’ve been. The salad bar wasn’t much that I wanted and the hot food station options were not desired either, white rice, tilapia and a couple other side dishes I wasn’t interested in. The meat that was served was excellent - every piece was mouth watering…. their signature drinks were also amazing. I definitely got my fill and for the price you should. It was nice but there are other places closer to home I’ll go to for a little cheaper with more options I like. It was Valentine’s Day and my honey is a Taurus so I thought it would be cute to dine there.More infoTaurinus Brazilian SteakhousePrice: Expensive• Brazilian Steakhouse• San Jose•4.1
