Discover Portage Park
Portage Park, Chicago, is on the northwest side of the city and is home to one of the oldest theaters in Chicago, the Portage Theater. Built in 1920 and containing 1,938 seats, the Portage Theater is located close to many pubs and sports bars. These venues feature Irish stouts, ales, and local microbrews crafted by artisan brewers in the metropolitan area. Also surrounding the theater are many Indian restaurants with local specialties such as bhakra curry and podanlangkai with curried vegetables. There are also many Mexican restaurants in the community, with main dishes such as cóctel de camarón, cochinita pibil, and flautas with guacamole. Coffee shops and independent bakeries dot the neighboring streets, with specialties such as caffe con leche and paczki.
