Discover Gilbert
Dating back to 1892 and named after the group of mines in the area, Gilbert is still an important iron ore mining town and part of the Iron Range of northern Minnesota. Visitors and locals have lots of fun doing water sports, swimming, boating and fishing on the area lakes. When it's time to eat, you'll find everything from quick, delicious sandwiches, burgers, and soups to upscale restaurants serving traditional American cuisine. Gilbert has the best homemade thin-crust pizza in the area, too. For a great dinner, try the grilled rib eye and flat iron steaks, pork chops or maple glazed salmon. If you're looking for something a bit more exotic, how about coconut shrimp, Thai chili chicken or mahi-mahi? Be sure to save room for wild blueberry pie.
