Honoring Chef Miki Izumisawa, the female, award-winning sushi artist, originally trained by the one and only Nobu Matsuhisa. Miki was inspired by nature to create unique nigiri, cut rolls and hand rolls that blur the line between art and fusion sushi. Miki's recipes transform elements of the natural world with names such as Lava Flow, Moon and Sun, Feather in the Sky, and Prairie. Before her passing, Miki carefully coached outstanding female-only sushi chefs to execute her masterpieces. Her legacy continues in this romantic styled coastal, intimate sushi bar and cozy 18 window seats with views of Laguna's main beach. Owners Chris Olsen and Greg Washer are longtime locals who appreciate what Miki did for this community with an outstanding Japanese experience pushing the boundaries of tradition.     Thank you for a wonderful evening, we are so delighted to be back for an amazing dinner after 14 year of marriage. Hotel Laguna is where we tied the night and our experience yesterday evening was so lovely. The staff were friendly and our server brought us a surprise dessert, so kind! The food was fantastic- I had the chilean seabass and my husband had the gnocchi. We truly enjoyed our valentines day dinner. Thank you!

    Valentines dinner with my wife and two friends who eat out a lot! They too loved the entire experience. Food was great and large portions and moderately priced. Good drinks and appetizers were outstanding. Waitresses was attentive but not overly pushy. Great experience!

    Everything was superb, as usual - the escargot, pate, fries. My husband had pork cordon bleu and found it yummy. I had the endive salad with gruyere and ham, and it was also excellent. The only item that was subpar was my basil mocktail. The basil was over-powered by orange blossom syrup. However, the bartender very kindly made me another without the syrup and it was very good. We recommend Brussels Bistro most highly.
