- TThomasNew York City •4 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoWe had a Christmas Eve dinner at the Copper Grouse. The drink and dinner choices were varied and we each saw a number of items we would enjoy. The cheese board was tasty as was the arancini appetizer. Portions were very healthy and the sides were all delicious and well prepared. We wound up sharing bites amongst the table and everyone was stuffed when we finished. Service was very friendly and attentive and the restaurant had a good vibe. Only negative is, being in a hotel, there was a mix of kids watching videos on their ipads and couples out for a pre-holiday dinner. We have eaten here before and would definitely come back.More infoCopper Grouse - Taconic HotelPrice: Expensive• American• Manchester•4.5

- JJohnAustin •3 reviews5.0Dined on Dec 12, 2024Oh. My. God. This place has EVERYTHING. If you find yourself in Peru, Vermont—and I mean, why wouldn’t you? It’s the hottest small town tucked away in the mountains—you need to check out JJ Hapgood General Store & Eatery, the crown jewel of rustic chic vibes. This place has: •Wood-fired pizza so good it makes you question all your life choices. •Artisanal cocktails served in glasses that somehow make you feel like you’re starring in a Hallmark movie. •A cozy fire pit out back for those “I just came in from hiking but also I’m here for the small-town magic” moments. •A porch packed with locals who all look like they know how to build a barn but also probably have an MFA. •And the characters—oh, the characters. There’s: •Flannel-clad Brandon, who’s always “just stopping in for a coffee” but stays for three hours. •Jessica with the dog, who orders her pup a side of bacon (and no one judges her). •And Devon, who tells stories that may or may not be ghost lore but are absolutely mesmerizing. The food? Amazing. The vibe? Immaculate. The vibe while eating the food? Next level. Whether you’re devouring a pizza or sipping on something infused with elderflower, JJ Hapgood makes you feel like you’re part of the town. For one night, you’re not just a visitor; you’re a Vermonter who knows all about sugaring season and what time the plow goes by. JJ Hapgood isn’t just a tavern. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a vibe. It’s the only place in Peru where you can sit down by the fire pit and wonder, “Wait, am I about to join a CSA?” You HAVE to go. You just HAVE to.More infoJJ Hapgood General Store & EateryPrice: Expensive• American• Peru•5

Londonderry, like many small Vermont towns, offers superlative skiing, beautiful scenery and great food. An extensive farmers' market runs in the summer and early autumn, offering artisan sandwiches and coffees along with local meat, dairy and produce. Historic buildings house restaurants featuring modern American cuisine, including numerous vegetarian options. Continental cuisine is also readily found, with many restaurants harking back to their Alpine and Celtic roots. Pubs proudly feature Vermont-made beer, wines and spirits to enjoy after skiing or a long walk in the surrounding state parks.
