This was my friend's and my second time at Passionfish--last January and this one--and both times our experience was similar. The atmosphere here is lovely, the rooms are relatively quiet, the service is friendly and attentive without being at all intrusive, the menu looks great, and the execution just falls short. This time we shared 3 dishes. We started with the fish stew appetizer (I think it was $20). The broth was bright and lovely, the small pieces of fish were way overcooked. We then had the Dungeness crab salad ($30), and while there was a generous portion of crab, it was positively drowning in dressing, which masked the delicate flavor of the crab and made it kind of pointless to order fresh crab during crab season. Our entree was grilled shrimp with Rancho Gordo beans (the best money can buy) for $37. The 5 shrimp were lovely, but the beans were overcooked (shame!) and the sauce/broth was just meh, pretty unappetizing to be honest. The two glasses of special champagne were alright. Nothing special. The coffee was delicious, however, as was the biscuit we had with the stew. (They are famous for these biscuits for good reason!) Last year we had one *wonderful* dish and two disappointing ones. We came back hoping the disappointments were the fluke. After paying over $150 for dinner this time and all three misses, I'm afraid we won't be back.

Disappointed that the flavors just didn’t come together well. Was expecting better! The scallops were perfectly seared though. The trout was moist with crisp skin. It took quite a while to clear our plates off the table and several wait people walked by and looked.

Our party of 4 had a very pleasant meal. All appetizers were great, scallop, cheese balls, biscuit. My duck confit was great, wife’s trout not what she hoped for but other mains were very good.

The food was phenomenal. The flavors played well together, from the fresh kick of ginger with the dungeons crab salad to the perfect acidity of the tomato purée with the scallops to balance out the natural sweetness. The staff was wonderful and even though we had a late night reservation, we were not rushed out so people could go home and enjoy their Friday night. Our dishes were brought out with time to enjoy and digest, allowing us to truly appreciate and experience each course for what it should be. Passionfish was recommended to me, and will be recommended to others now. A lovely experience, meal and evening.
