   Valentines dinner with a fixed price dinner that was definitely not worth the $89 per person price. The only 2 choices for the first course were raw tuna or raw beef. As we don’t eat uncooked food we asked for a substitute and were told by the waiter it was absolutely impossible to do that. We ordered steaks for the second course which were tough and grizzled…..with practically uncooked bacon wrapped around!! They were tasteless and crunchy in places! They were the worst!! I asked the waiter to check with the kitchen if the mashed potatoes contained any dairy products as I can’t eat them. He never came back to our table to answer my question so I didn’t eat them! VERY disappointed!!

   Worst meal we’ve had while in San Juan! Beef tenderloin wasn’t beef tenderloin; it was tough and full of grizzle! Paid $269 plus the cost of an Uber to end up hungry.

   The atmosphere and food were really really good. But the long wait times were compounded by an apparent lack of sufficient, staff just walking past you and not even acknowledging you, and staff that seemed to be clueless. However, once the bartender started to assist us, things went well. The space is very calming so the waiting was not as unpleasant as it could have been.

   The skirt steak was terrible, but the fish tacos were outstanding. Also, the service was slow, but the ambience was excellent.

   The best part of our experience was at the Bar. The bartender was great putting on a nice little show making us two El Conventos and they were delicious. The food choices had changed from a few years ago. I had the stuffed mofongo with 5 shrimp in a strange tasting sauce with red pepper and onion. I didn't finish. My wife has the lobster risotto which was way too salty. I make risotto all the time and you just don't need to be so heavy handed on the salt. A nice lobster tail but it was in the shell so my wife had to get another dish to put it on to get the meat out.

   If you're looking for a view, this is not the place. While they say they have valet parking (impossible to park on the street), it's just an adjacent parking lot that charges $27. Great mojitos and food in a courtyard setting.

    The servers were extremely pleasant, the ambience was delightful, the food was very good. The problem is that the restaurant is very insufficiently staffed and it took over an hour before we were provided with beverages and a menu, and much longer to get the food. This was not the fault of the servers or the chef at all. But we had the same extraordinary delays at dinner and at breakfast the next day, and other customers told us they had the same issues. The hotel, which is a lovely place and which touts itself as being one of the great small luxury hotels, needs to staff up the restaurant.
