Since 1746, the building that houses this tavern has played a part in the establishment of our nation; first as a respite for stagecoach travelers expanding westward and later as a covert rendezvous point for George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, and other leaders of the American revolution. It is believed that during the infamous winter of 1777–1778 at Valley Forge, a major figure in the Continental Army, master military mind Friedrich Von Steuben, designated the tavern as a secret black powder munitions stash for Continental Army couriers. We have been going to Gauchos Prime almost since it opened. We are fans of Brazilian steak houses, and Gauchos Prime is the best so far, in our opinions. The food is top notch and the service is truly outstanding. This time we were there for Thanksgiving dinner. They lived up to our expectations. We did a bit of the traditional food, and then the rest of it was excellent steakhouse fare.

We were impressed with the Thanksgiving prix fixe meal. The food quantity and quality were very good. The service and atmosphere were also impressive. Only one negative was the food temperature. The soup and main meal were not warm. Everything else was so good it was easy to overlook that issue.

Always a good choice. The food is reliably very good and it’s always a fun night. Very good waitstaff. Sushi is always the highlight. It’s been in our regular rotation since it opened, but it has lost a bit of its specialness over the years.

On this return visit two of us had the same delicious combo, half an artichoke panini with a cup of cream of mushroom soup. The other person had a slice of quiche with an amazing strawberry salad, and we all had the excellent key lime pie for dessert. As a bonus, several cats were adopted while we were there!
