Before the James Beard Award and the Gourmet Magazine review, Lotus of Siam was a small little hole in the wall located in Commercial Center in Las Vegas. November 1999 was the month Chef Saipin and her husband Bill took over Lotus of Siam. Since then, Thai food became an adventure for those willing to step out of their comfort zones for Asian Cuisine. Chef Saipin’s distinct cooking has been passed down from generation to generation, from both her grandmothers and her husband’s grandmothers. Her northern style cooking has opened America into the “Northern” world of Thailand, away from the Bangkok style of sweet and tang. Dinner was delicious.We ordered the Don lasagna and Santucci with meatballs. Everything was made from scratch. The secret entrance experience was one of a kind. Tell him the secret password. The ambiance is dark with candles on every table. The singer was entertaining and interacted with all the patrons. He takes requests. They celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and even a couple and small party had just gotten married. It was fabulous. I will say that it is hard keeping a conversation while he's singing, but we came for entertainment so that did not apply to us. I will going back on my next trip to Vegas.

This is an exceptional restaurant. Please do not let the outdated plaza which houses the restaurant fool you. This is an oasis where the food and service are exceptional. We have been coming here every Vegas trip.
