Best Lunch Restaurants in Kawaihae

Merriman’s consistently ranks among our favorite restaurants. The food and service are superb with great menu options for us GF folks. The wine and drink options are very good as well. Kathryn our server was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable and could not do enough to please us. Great choice if you are visiting the Big Island!

Such a lovely afternoon spent at Islander Sake. We had a reservation for a 3:30pm tour and showed up to be the only ones there (Thursday in March). My husband and I and our ~2 year old son sat on the patio for the sake tasting and were educated for 90 minutes (!) on the fascinating sake process, its history, and why Islander has made its home on the island. We could not have been more happily surprised by what a hidden gem Islander sake was. HIGHLY recommend.

Libby, our waitress was amazing! She went above and beyond for us and made us feel so welcomed even though we showed up at 8:45pm she even got me a blanket to cover my shoulders because it was a chilly night. She was so sweet and wonderful!!!
