Best Restaurants with a Fireplace in San Mateo

Our first time back since the new owners took over and it could not have been better. Same cozy, rustic ambience and excellent cuisine. We had the scallops to start followed by the pork tenderloin and short ribs as entrees. The wines were wonderfully paried as well. In a word, everything was perfection. A shout out to Sebastian, a true professional and gentleman who helped make our evening extra special. Looking forward to our next visit.

We were seated promptly from friendly and professional staff . The food was exceptional and your staff was exceptional as well. Perfect place to eat when we are staying in town. Always are recommended to our friends.

Best flipping bacon 🥓 sweet and salty,a perfect combination. And my favorite brunch item is the huevos rancheros. Absolutely delicious with a homemade tortilla base and a great combination topped with a great salsa/ sauce with just the right heat from sautéed jalapeños. An added gift from the chef of two yummy fresh strawberry scones were moist and absolutely delicious. ( thanks Miley) We loved them them and I don’t usually like scones !! Best brunch in town.

We had a pleasant evening at Mistral’s. It mostly seemed like a well oiled machine. The menu is creative with varied choices. We liked the onion soup and caesar salad. The crab cakes drew positive comments; less so the surf and turf which included a chewy sirloin turf. Service was friendly and attentive.

Great place to eat and drink, and it is a neighborhood gem. ENJOY
