As you walk into the Peacock you get the feeling of history, built in 1652, the hotel was originally used as a dower house for Haddon Hall. The link between the two survives today as Lord Edward Manners brought the hotel back into his estate in 2004, the hotel has many pieces of unique furniture and art work from the Estate. The Bar is another step back into the past with a copper topped bar and untouched surroundings, the extensive cocktail and drinks list can be enjoyed in the bar or lounge before dinner. Our restaurant team have been the proud bearers of three AA rosettes–the top ten percent in the country. We offer both an indulgent, fine dining menu & a more relaxed bar menu to suit most tastes or moods. We serve truly local ingredients including organically-reared beef & lamb from the Haddon Estate. Booked for festive lunch. Had 2 course, main and dessert. Lovely tasty food, beautifully cooked, generous servings. Thoroughly enjoyed. Waitresses were friendly and welcoming. Thoroughly enjoyed Only one thing we would suggest is that there is an option to request a smaller serving due to not everyone being able to eat a normal sized portion. My friend always feels embarrassed when she leaves at least 2\3rds of main course simply due to portion size.

Lovely food. Very nice surroundings and ambience. Would definitely go back. The only downside was the service, which was friendly enough but not very attentive. We also had to wait to pay and there was only one person at the desk who was welcoming and seating new arrivals rather than taking our money. There was someone else waiting to pay behind us - maybe there ought to be someone who could see the queue and help out.

Fabulous food in a splendid setting. From the moment you enter you know you're in the right place for a great experience. The staff were friendly and just attentive enough, not too much, just right! . We had the taster meal and started with canapes in the open fire warmed bar. Every dish was a delight. Highlights for us were the scallop and mackerel tartare and the red mullet but everything was superb. great combinations of tastes without being fussy or complex for the sake of it. The wine flight took us out of comfort zone of big Spanish and Italian reds or bone dry Italian whites. A smokey oak aged Californian pinot noir and a dense Saperavi stood out; all the choices complemented its dish perfectly.

An absolutely wonderful Jubilee picnic, the coronation chicken and rice was gorgeous. Such a wonderful array of rolls, quiche, scotch egg, crisps to accompany, you could tell they were specially selected for quality, and a fresh cream scone and jam, summer berries and brownie to finish. All beautifully packaged in a lovely insulated bag. Perfect.
