We are centrally located off Hwy. 101 in San Rafael, across for the famous Frank Lloyd Wright Marin Civic Center. La Toscana is a family owned and operated Italian restaurant and bar located in Marin County. It was established in 1985 by Paolo Mori, his wife, Marilyn, and Michele Quilici. The owners all grew up in Lucca, Italy and immigrated to the U.S. in the late 1950s. Chef and co— owner Giovanni Racanello joined La Toscana in 1986. The food is off the charts! Always something unique and fresh on the menu. But the standard entrees are excellent as well. Everything is homemade - love the focaccia bread! Service is prompt and friendly. Also a great wine selection. Always a great night out at Valenti.

I usually don’t review restaurants, however I feel the need to do so about Piatti. My Mom and I now dine regularly every Thursday night. We eat out a lot and have many choices. The reason we have made Piatti our special place is for several reasons. 1). Greeted by lovely hosts 2) Service is exemplary. Very well paced as we like to enjoy our cocktails before ordering. Our usual server is Luis, who goes above and beyond. However, if it’s not Luis, Vicky and the other staff are fantastic. 3) Great menu. We always find something we love and food is prepared as ordered. 4) Wonderful ambiance. We thought we’d only enjoy the beautiful water views during summer, but agreed tonight it was quite cozy for fall and winter. All in all, Piatti continues to check all the boxes for a weekly special night with my 96 year old mother. We look forward to coming back again next week!
