Chamas do Brazil, which means “Flames of Brazil,” is an authentic Brazilian Steakhouse. Our special meat roasting method is based on the old gaucho tradition from several centuries ago, known as churrasco. Churrasco was originated in Southern Brazil, where Gauchos (Brazilian Cowboys) pierced different types of meat and grilled them over open flamed pits. The concept is to serve a wide variety of different cuts of beef, lamb, pork, and chicken to each diner individually right at their table. In 1983, after the success of La Calle Doce, Oscar and Laura Sanchez wanted to open another restaurant but they didn’t want to duplicate their previous success nor did they want to open just another Tex-Mex restaurant. Oscar wanted something that wasn’t found in Dallas, something that reminded him of home. Since both Oscar and Laura are from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon in Northern Mexico, they decided to open a restaurant that specialized in Comida Norteño (northern food) and Tex-Mex featuring dishes such as cabrito, mollejas, and asado de puerco. Wonderful dining experience. I had the Wagyu filet with a crab cake, and both were amazing. My husband had the pork chop, and we shared the corn soufle and sauteed spinach. Shrimp cocktail was wonderful as well. Highly recommend.
