Kokkari (pronounced “Ko-Kar-ee”) is a small fishing village located on the islands of Samos in the Aegean Sea, whose name is derived from the small onions that were once produced in the nearby fields. Its fertile soil and Mediterranean climate translated into an abundance of fresh produce as well as treasured seafood and game. Legend tells that Kokkari is the site where Orion, a mighty hunter and a young man of gigantic stature and great beauty, fell in love with the daughter of the king of Chios. I treated my husband here for his birthday. We were very impressed and happy with the restaurant. The chef even came up to our table and interacted with us! We enjoyed every morsel, and agreed that it is one of our favorite steakhouses! The restaurant is beautiful and the service was spectacular. The staff anticipated your move at times; it was impressive. Overall, amazing experience!

Our experience at Nisei was phenomenal. It was our last night of our honeymoon, and the team and Chef David ensured that everything was an incredible experience from the moment we walked in. The food was so delicious, beautifully plated, and many times very surprising. The team recommended a sake for us to try to ensure it met our taste expectations before purchasing it. The entire experience lasted about 3 hours, and we left there ready to plan our anniversary trip back to San Francisco just to enjoy Nisei again. We wholeheartedly recommend Nisei to anyone looking for an amazing culinary adventure.
