A wonderful evening. Delicious food, very generous portions, friendly, helpful and professional staff and the premesis were very clean.

Food and service always first class but today’s panettone bread and butter pudding was incredible.

Opting for the 5-course tasting menu during our visit on Wednesday evening, we were treated to a journey of flavours that were as refined as they were inventive. Each dish was a testament to the creative genius of Chef Aktar Islam and his team, blending traditional Indian influences with modern techniques in ways that delighted the senses. From the very first bite, it was clear that each plate had been crafted with meticulous attention to detail. The balance of flavours, the textures, and the presentation were flawless—elevating every course into a work of art. It was impossible to pick a favourite dish as every course brought something unique to the table, showcasing a remarkable depth of culinary skill. The service was equally impeccable. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, their knowledge of the dishes and wine pairings enhancing the entire experience. Every interaction felt warm and genuine, creating an atmosphere of relaxed elegance that perfectly complemented the meal. The highlight of the evening, however, was our post-dinner conversation with Chef Aktar Islam. His dedication to his craft and his customers was evident in every word, and it was truly inspiring to hear firsthand about his culinary philosophy. It is rare to encounter a chef so committed to pushing boundaries while maintaining such a profound respect for the origins of his cuisine. Opheem is not just a restaurant; it is an experience—one that transcends dining and enters the realm of art. We left feeling not only satisfied but deeply inspired. We always book a table here during our annual holiday to Rutland and would highly recommend a visit. The food is exceptional and is a very reasonable price, given the food quality and standard of service. When you arrive you are greeted by the smell of the home-made bread that is baked every day and everyone gets this to begin, along with some flavoured dipping oil and speciality butter. Today's butter was sea salt and seaweed. Scott, Carol and their team make you feel at ease and provide efficient and unobtrusive service, whilst maintaining a casual feel. We had booked for our wedding anniversary and we found a handwritten card waiting on out table, a nice personal touch. We will definitely return the next time we are in the area.
