- PPaulEdinburgh/Midlothian •5 reviews5.0Dined 2 days agoOne of our favourite go to restaurants. Food was great as always although noticed there are a few supplements to be paid now on certain foods. Eg an additional £20 for fillet steak (it was delicious), an extra £10 for halibut, (it was nice but not worth the extra in my opinion). Only other point was we were told they needed the table back at a certain time which we had no problem with but we had pre booked in advance and we didn’t delay anything, the service was slower than usual but it was busy. We had literally just finished when advised the table was required now. All in all a lovely meal with friends as always. Highly recommend.More infoHibou BlancPrice: Expensive• British• Newcastle upon Tyne•4.6

Food was tasty, well prepared and more than plentiful. My husband was treated to a Birthday desert too which was a nice touch.More infoEmberPrice: Moderate• Modern European• Sunderland•4.8
- CCarolNew York City •4 reviews5.0Dined 6 days agoWe received a voucher for Blackfriars for Christmas. Booking was easy online. We arrived slightly early but our table was ready. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived and enjoyed the background music. Service was very good and we asked if we could mix and match between the menu’s and they said it was fine to do that. We ordered the fish platter to share which was really nice. I ordered the fillet steak, it was perfectly cooked to the way I like it and the chips were amazing, I ordered the beef dripping jus which was delicious. My husband ordered the corn fed chicken, again this was delicious. We had no room for desert so can’t comment on that. My husband also had the larger brewed onsite which he said was very nice. Only fault I would say is they put a service charge of 10% on your bill but it is explained it is not mandatory. Definitely will be back.More infoBlackfriars RestaurantPrice: Expensive• British• Newcastle upon Tyne•4.6
- MMikeNewcastle and Northumberland •11 reviews5.0Dined on Feb 3, 2025My wife and I made our first visit to The Broad Chare for lunch, upstairs in the dining room, to celebrate my birthday, and what an excellent choice we made. We decided to mark the occasion by having the T-bone steak to share - we realised that neither of us had ever had that cut before - and I can't imagine it could be better. The meat was perfectly cooked, the blue cheese salad was delicious, it was a memorable dish. The starters were excellent as well - can't say much about the desserts because all we were capable of by that stage was lemon sorbet each! When we arrived there was only one other table occupied, but it soon filled up and was a really good atmosphere. Staff were all friendly and efficient. A bit pricy, but it was a birthday lunch and definitely worth it!More infoThe Broad CharePrice: Expensive• British• Newcastle upon Tyne•4.8
