Portland opened in 2015 and received a Michelin star the same year - which we have retained to this day. We try to offer the best contemporary example of fine dining in London – the finest produce we can find cooked with precision and a high level of technique led by our executive chef Stuart Andrew and head chef Chris Bassett and his team.

We offer a la carte and also a Tasting Menu at lunch and dinner.

Wine is as important as food and service at Portland. Our main wine list aims to offer brilliant value on interesting, different wines which we hope you seldom see on restaurant wine lists. Our Single Bottle List contains bins of some of the world’s finest wines and also more accessible offerings from our favourite producers.

Apart from the main restaurant, we hope that our private room and its offer of secluded and separate dining is just the thing for special family events or business meetings.

Uneven service. Heavy hands on the salt. We were given a beef fat consomme before checking the dietary requirements, and then the replacement was not explained, just dropped on the table. We had to ask what the alternative was. Didn't fill us with confidence that my wife's specific requirements would be met (Hindu, pregnant). The cups of consomme were both particularly heavy on salt, which is a theme. The a la carte was particularly short on options if you are pregnant. The hogget and eel tartare was interesting, until it was slathered in super salty beef fat jus. Which meant it lost any subtlety and just tasted like something smothered in Bisto. The crab raviolo was excellent. Mains were good - Monkfish very good, the charred brassicas also, but more excessive salt at play here. Even the hay hollandaise with the bread was salty. The potato rosti side was a pretty dry square hashbrown that ironically could have done with some seasoning. Served without care - the knife to divide it was sitting in the bright green sauce on the dish, which needed us to clean it. Putting the rosti between two wet ingredients meant that it was generally pretty soggy. The pasta was good, but also just pasta with an egg yolk and celeriac - is that comparable value to beef or venison? The apple Tarte tatin was massive, and again probably over cooked to the point of tasting burned. The apples were sweet mush that took all the crunch out of the pastry. And totally overpowered the rum raisin ice-cream, which could have been any flavour. The cheesecake was enjoyed. Overall OK, didn't feel great value or anything memorable. Sloppy service didn't help. I doubt we'd recommend and certainly won't be heading back.

Absolutely delicious tasting menu and the chefs kindly did a vegan one too which was divine. All the staff were wonderful and so welcoming, and it was a lovely warm, inviting atmosphere with a good noise level. Can’t recommend enough, definitely deserves its star!
