   The place has an Ant Problem I noticed the first one on my creamed Spanish plate and ignored it second one on my cheesecake plate

   Last night was my third visit to 1870. I keep going back because each menu item provides a satisfying moment from the first taste to completion. Additionally, the service is always friendly, professional, and knowledgeable making the environment as wonderful as the food. During my recent visit, Alejandra took great care of the table. I had the pork chop, au gratin potatoes, and broccoli. My fiancee had lobster bisque, fillet, and green beans. No disappointments. For dessert, we shared the blueberry lavender cheesecake. Light and satisfying. Seating; my first experience was in the larger open first floor. The space was decorated nicely but it was difficult to hear others in our party of 6. The last two experiences had us in the upstairs location. No issues with overcrowding or noise. 1870 is my top dining experience in Midlothian. Try it.

   The noise level increased rapidly after arriving for a 5:30pm dinner, but got there shortly after 5. We were seated right away and our hostess and waitress were lovely. The tables are very close together. Order to table time was terrific, food was good, but vegetables like carrots and potatoes, could have used a few more minutes cooking time. Flavors were amazing on everything. Au Poivre sauce was very good but a bit hot on the peppercorns on a few bites. Overall it was a lovely experience, complimentary champagne was served to us after dinner, in honor of a celebration, very lovely touch. Would definitely go back.

   Excellent food and service. Geneva was exceptional and really made the experience so enjoyable. We sat at the bar. The drinks (Geneva’s special bourbon drinks) appetizers (scallops), prime rib eye and salmon and the green beans and mashed potatoes were all incredible. The entire experience was top notch. The decor and history displayed were done in great taste. Will definitely be back.

    Love everything about 1870 except for the noise level. The sound really echos! Got slightly whiter when they lowered the lighting but it’s a CB Allende to talk without shouting. The food and service was fantastic!!
