About this restaurant

  • Great for live music
  • Good for special occasions
  • Romantic
18th & 21st brings something fresh and classic to Columbia, Maryland. Named after the Constitutional Amendment that enacted Prohibition and then subsequent Amendment that repealed it, 18th & 21st promises to bring back a bygone era through an elevated, tailored evening experience. Our food and cocktails reflect the feel of prohibition supper clubs. This not to say we're stuck in the past, but rather that we try and emulate the style of that era. That means beautiful presentation, careful crafting, and perfect pairings to keep your night on beat. Combined with live music, this creates an unparalleled experience for the discerning and adventurous looking for a sophisticated evening. Due to the nature of the experience at 18th & 21st we request that all diners be over the age of eighteen.

Waited for several minutes in the front lobby to get seated. Entrees were overpriced. Snapper lacked flavor. Fried oysters with chicken meal did not taste good. Said it as a birthday in the reservation and nothing was done.

Great experience. Loved it. On the pricier side but well worth it. Justine, our server, was fantastic. Many thanks for an enjoyable evening.

The food, service and ambiance were all exquisite! My wife and I were delightfully satisfied with the starters and the entrees. Our service expert Casey and the attentive trainee Mike were both professional, polite and proficient, often checking on us to ask how we were enjoying our dining experience and suggesting menu items that we might like.

The food was far below expectations: the tuna tartare was not firm as it should be, leading me to be concerned about eating it. The $65 ribeye steak was not of the quality that would be expected for a ribeye of that price - overly fatty and tough. My wife's mushroom soup was good. The service was nominal. The house rules are a joke: one server/manager was wearing a untucked shirt with sleeves rolled up and a teenager wearing a t-sirt was seated.

Shelly was my server, and she was so delightful, helpful, welcoming and patient. Despite the menu change which I was so sad about, I had a beautiful experience. The food was still good. My first time and I will definitely be back.

The new menu had great options. It was hard to decide. I had the red snapper and shrimp entree and my friend had the crab cake entree. Both were delicious.

I really enjoyed the vibe and experience at this restaurant. Service was outstanding, she never rushed us which allowed us to enjoy the music. The food was 9/10, I wasn't a huge fan of the deviled eggs but the short rib was perfectly seasoned and sooo good.

The pork chop was overcooked. The dish with shrimp, scallops and fish was bland, seafood was overcooked. The sauce was not good. Because of the darkness of the room, all three of us missed the house rules that were on the table. Nor did she point them out. Although our server was very kind, she waited until we were about to leave to inform me that they asked that you take your calls outside of the restaurant and then she pointed to the house rules. Not her problem, but I’m from out of town, my mother‘s in the emergency room in another state, and I had been getting up and down about seven or eight times to take a call and she never said anything until then. I think best practice is for the surface to say upfront. They have house rules and encourage the guest to read them.

Lori, Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your experience at 18th & 21st. We glad to hear that you felt the service and ambience were worthy of high marks but disappointed to learn that the quality of our food did not live up to your expectations. We are never ones to make excuses for a poor performance and we won't start now. What we can offer is our sincere apology that we missed the mark during your time with us. As far as our house rules, we will chat with our staff about how to better handle pointing them out in the future. We hope that your mother has a speedy recovery and we will hope you might offer us another chance the next time you are in the Columbia area. Vince Culotta Managing Partner Cured / 18th & 21st.
