About this restaurant

  • Gluten-free-friendly
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for special occasions
What's a stir, you ask? We offer gluten-free contemporary Pacific Northwest cuisine with Northern Mediterranean influences - think Spanish, French, Italian, Greek & Turkish, diverse & healthy options, courtesy of Chef Ton Yazici & Sous Chef Ben Jones. We specialize in wine, cider and spirit flights.

In addition to our ciders, beer & full bar, we serve local Washington wines as well as a selection of Mediterranean ones, curated by local winemaker Rich Burton of Locus Wines.

Main dining room is all ages with 75 seats. Downstairs bar/event space holds 150 people - 21+only for regular hours. Please note that food service stops 45 minutes prior to closing.

P.S. Our space was formerly Capitol Cider, a gluten-free kitchen bar and tavern that specialized on fried foods and pub fare. Our reviews prior to 2024 are for Capitol Cider.

SPECIAL NOTE: We require a credit card hold for larger reservations (6 or more), up to 10 people. If seeking larger ones, email us at info@astirseattle.com.

Welcome to our Music & Drink series! Our co-owner/winemaker Rich is a massive live music fanatic. He'll be pairing 10 songs with a drink that matches its mood, lyrics, or the vibe. There will be wine, cider, beer, or cocktails paired with each song. We will listen while sipping the chosen libation - conversation about the pairing is encouraged! Theme this month: Spirit Focus – Gin. Guess what? Gin isn’t just for martinis and tonic! We’ll deep dive on this amazing spirit and try cocktails old and new that feature gin as the main ingredient. Learn about the history of gin and, as always, we’ll pair some songs perfectly with each drink. Rich's music taste skews towards alternative pop, rock, folk & country, with a few other genres thrown in for good measure. Like Jenny Lewis, The Head & the Heart, Jason Isbell, The New Pornographers, & U.S. Girls. You want to be there. Never heard of them? Discover new music then! Regular food menu will be available if hungry.

Great food. Gluten free kitchen which is great for those who need to eat gluten free however all the others joining at the table would have no idea they are eating a gluten free meal. The bread they provided was literally some of the best bread I've ever eaten and would have never guessed that it was GF. All apps, drinks, entrees, and desserts were very good. We'll be back!

Lovely staff, nice place. Food portions on the light side but very tasty. Crispy Brussel sprouts need a bit more crisping but again tasty. Wine is pricey but good solid reds. GF beer very tasty. As a Coeliac and a birthday boy I enjoyed the whole experience

Appetizer (meze plate) was really good. The chicken suflaki was a bit dry, but the salad that was served with it (Turkish shepherd's salad) was really delicious. We also had a lamb moussaka special that was really good. The desert (chocolate cookie with ice cream) wasn't anything to write home about. All in all, a good meal.

Thank you, Damian. Next time, send back the suflaki and we'll fire a new one. No one deserves a dry-ish chicken. It is like wet jeans. Unpleasant and you just wanted it to go away. Not sure what happened with the chocolate chip cookie there. Usually, when we run out, people threaten to never come back. It is THAT popular. We will aim for better grades in the future. Thanks for the feedback. We will do better. Cheers, Ton (Chef/Owner)

While in town for business, we held a team dinner for seven people. It was nice to accommodate vegan and vegetarian staff with great options. Our server was great.

So glad we went! Service was attentive and lovely, and food was excellent. Crab cakes perfectly crispy exterior with lots of tasty crab inside with almost undetectable “filler” elements - JUST as it should be but seldom is at even the best restaurants. Chicken pesto pasta dish was a hit, as was the OH burger & fries. Cheese curds yummy as always. Drinks fine with the exception of the Locus rose (remarkably tasteless) that was part of the rose flight, but this was quickly rectified by our excellent server. All around great experience!

Thank you for this Nancy. We will shoot for a better grade next time around. The filler in my crab cakes is wild Alaskan Cod to hold it together. No panko crumbs, etc. Oops, just gave the secret away. :-) Cheers, Ton (Chef/Owner)
