   The servers are very kind, attentive, and informed about the food. We had the $85 tasting menu and didn’t really like any of it. Most of the sauces all have the same note - lemony basil pesto. Food was presented well but flavors fell flat.

   Alta is a wonderful discovery. The vitello tonnato was the best I've had. And the servive was attentive without being intrusive. Perfetto!

   Alta is a true neighbourhood gem. The venue is intimate but relaxed, beautifully put together and as welcoming as an old friend’s home. The food is outstanding, hard to beat in Melbourne. The current spring menu is the best we’d had at Alta. Crisp fried zucchini flowers, new asparagus, a house favourite vitello tonato, delicately prepared. The pastas were a stand out. Something similar to fettuccine with prawns in complex zucchini based sauce. And a lobster lasagne. Wow! This time we couldn’t fit in the temping mains which included mackerel with shellfish and a spring lamb dish. Desserts looked delicious but next time! Service is spot in. If you haven’t been, give this restaurant a go. You won’t be disappointed.

   I didn't get the name of our waiter but he was absolutely fantastic. The wine was INCREDIBLE. Definitely recommend this place for a special occasion

    Very nice food - carefully prepared and seasonal but still traditional Relaxed atmosphere (could have sone without the loud Italian pop music though - cool jazz would be a better fit? Italian/ Latin artists of course) Particularly thrilled with the early asparagus … A lovely mid range place for a special occasion
