   Everything was truly great. The service is warm and inviting, the food is always wonderful. It makes you wonder how BBG can do so many food concepts successfully, and rarely close a restaurant (though I’m still sore about OG Mad Mex shuttering).

   I don’t mind waiting for food, especially if the quality justifies the time. Unfortunately, this wasn’t one of those occasions. The experience started off poorly when we asked the waiter for any recommendations, and he unhelpfully responded, “Everything’s good.” From there, the service only got worse. After a long wait, our entrees were dropped off hastily by the waiter, who didn’t even hear me asking for silverware before he vanished. When he eventually returned with it, that was the last we saw of him until it was time to discuss dessert. The food itself was hit or miss. My boyfriend found his dish so unappetizing that I ended up giving him my fosili, which was the only saving grace of the meal — well-prepared and flavorful. When I mentioned to the waiter (who returned smelling like cigarettes) that we didn’t enjoy one of the dishes at all, his only response was to ask if we wanted a box for it. Between the lack of helpful guidance, inconsistent food, and inattentive service, this experience was incredibly disappointing. Perhaps they were having an off night, but the lack of care and professionalism made it hard to overlook the flaws.

   Would give 5 for overall but had to get up and ask for a waiter. No one came to table to serve us after 20 min. We had a wonderful server, Dustin, and the restaurant did comp one of side dishes and agreed to split salad order due to inconvenience. We appreciate that the restaurant did this without asking. The food was outstanding.

   The food was outstanding, and the service was phenomenal. We will absolutely be back. So glad to have found a new delicious brunch place.

   We got there at 6:30, didn’t get a server until 7, didn’t get bread or drinks until 7:15, got our appetizers at 7:30 then waited an hour for our food at 8:20! The manager was very sweet however but our waitress was horrible. She was rude and never asked how our food was or took plates off our table.

   It was very cold in Pgh that night. One guest sat below a window and he was cold.

   We really enjoyed our meal at Alta Via. The service and ambiance was very good and while it was fairly lively for Wednesday evening, we were still able to hold a conversation with our any issues. Our cocktails were delicious, as was the bread to start the meal. My pasta was very good, certainly the best I’ve found in Pittsburgh so far. If there was a low point, it was the salads; not bad but uninspiring. Overall a good experience and I’d recommend Alta Via to anyone looking for good Italian food in Pittsburgh.

    My wife and I went to the Fox Chapel location of Alta Via with close friends for a 7:30 reservation on a Saturday evening. We were seated immediately by a friendly. Our server quickly greeted us; he was friendly and let us order at our own pace. The meals were timed perfectly and the food was perfect. We have been there several time and the consistency is commendable.
