    8 seat maximum Every course was excellent. Not cheap, but the upper end of the Kyoto dining scene is NOT inexpensive. Have spent just as much on inferior meals in Kyoto. You feel that you have been welcomed into Dan's private kitchen. I'd put Another C in the top 5- 10 of my dining experiences internationally over the past 30 years

    This was one of the most memorable dinners we've had in a long time. The food was excellent and prepared by one single person, Chef Dan. He's a one-man show, working marvels in his kitchen and delighting his dinner guests as if he were serving them in his home kitchen. If you want to try something different, don't miss Another C. You will be glad you did.

    This was without a doubt the best evening of our trip to Japan. Dan, the host was beyond brilliant at doing everything himself, serving us superb food and drinks while at the same time managing the room (me and my two adult daughters were the only non-Japanese in the room) ensuring everyone had a super time. It felt truly genuine and non-touristy - a real insight into the high life of Kyoto! Thank you Dan for a super evening! Highly recommended.

    Absolutely the best experience/food we have ever tried. The food was mind blowing, very different and amazing taste, you can’t get enough of it. The Chef Dan was extremely nice and very knowledgeable and attentive. Is a unique and very special experience. We talked about our cultures, experiences, food, and life in general.

    Last night’s meal is among the best meals I’ve eaten in my life. Through our dinner, Chef Dan married worlds of herb-y freshness and citrus with comforting warm rice, aromatic green onion and deep, dark reduced soy sauce. Cured red snapper maki, tempura shrimp, rich wagyu beef, and pork belly in broth are at once dish centerpieces and vehicles for a tango of flavors served with them. It’s all break-your-face delicious and expertly prepared before your very eyes. Chef Dan is thoughtful about his ingredients and unafraid to let them speak for themselves. You taste each ingredient at just the right intensity and texture. Thin and silky sliced tuna with a scallion sauce, crispy shallot, and purple shiso leaf was a big hit for me, but everything connects, honestly. You will watch his disciplined and precise preparation, but this is no militant, grumpy-bear chef. He brings a joy and congeniality to his art and with each bite it will rub off on you, too. You can’t help but talk about the food with the other guests and the chef himself. Atmosphere is like the food and the chef: Dynamic yet warm, Fashionable yet tasteful, Luxurious and inviting. On the 4th floor, the restaurant of about 15-20 seats overlooks an intersection bustling with nightlife just across the Sanjo bridge. Sit at the counter if you can. Chef Dan seems like the kind of guy who knows everyone, and the place has such a classy personal vibe, you never know who will drop by and fit right in.

    What a fabulous experience! We loved our evening at Another C. Chef was attentive and informative and welcoming. We loved sitting at the counter, both chatting among our group of four adults and watching him at work preparing an amazing meal. You don’t order - just take your seat and enjoy the experience. Be sure to make a reservation! The restaurant sits up a few floors in its building with a good, new vantage point on its corner of Kyoto which was also fun. Would do it again for sure!

    For the hype previously posted on reviews, I think reviews would require more balance. While nothing wrong with the place, the experience and food was only mediocre. Food was ok (not out of this world and I have found much better food and dining experiences in most places I have lived in or visited. The chef did a good job, it was fun to see the chef work but he could do more with the place (decor, keep it tidy and not use the space as storage). My suggestions: 1. Update the decor and turn the place into a cozy place with great ambience. 2. Tell more of a story around the food being prepared while cooking. 3. Keep a wine and drinks list and keep wines at the right temperature. 4. Bring in more exciting flavors… on the night we visited the miso soup was really good. The other dishes was ok. For the price, I think more can be done. My lesson learned, use local booking services and not opentable in a place where opentable does not offer a lot of options.
