Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Ralph Pausina

From the OpenTable editors: Antoine’s is the county’s oldest continuously operating restaurant and a special-occasion destination for its opulent setting and elegant, French-Creole fare. Sit in one of 14 gilded dining rooms to feast on favorites like oyster Rockefeller and soufflé potatoes, both original to the restaurant. Cap the meal with a classic baked Alaska or the house chicory coffee, laced with cognac and triple sec and flamed tableside—it’s New Orleans, after all.

Still 1840 at Antoine’s! Crab bisque and ravigote superb, pompano a little too crispy. Christmas decorations over the top—go for the food and great atmosphere!

Iconic restaurant with new owners. Food is delicious. Service is good but not the same a years ago. Attire requirements seem to be relaxed now too.

Great menu; executed superbly! Service was slow, but I think it was mostly due to our waitress. She was a little discombobulated.

Upon arrival, the front of house people were very much unprofessional, probsbly more suited to a less historic restaurant, fiddling with their iphones and visiting amongst themselves. We were seated at a table in the main front room where it was so drafty we asked to be moved, which still didn’t help much. We ordered appetizers, salad, soup, and entrees. The apps, salad and soup all came at the same time. The oysters ronquille were excellent, but the french onion soup was barely warm. Salad was also excellent, but we had to wait for the potato souffle. Entrees were then delivered after s long delay. My wifes dish was great, but my filet was barely warm and had to be sent back and reheated totally disrupting the flow of what should have been a great meal. I’m sure Antoine is turning over in his grave at the decline of such a establishment. We couldn’t even think of ordering dessert. We just wanted to pay the bill and move on. We come to Antoines every year when we’re in New Orleans, but never again.

This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. The food was incredible and we could not have asked for better service from Aaron and Donnica. I highly recommend Antoine’s for extraordinary dining, service and atmosphere!
