Apr 27, 2025 onlyCalla Camero Selects Wine Bar Take-Over at Arden. On Sunday, April 27th, LA-based local girl Calla Camero will be showcasing a line-up of Natural Wines that she imports to Hawaii. We’re bringing the spirit of an LA/Montreal-style dive wine bar to the heart of Waikiki: low-key, a little loud, a lot of fun, and totally unpretentious. It’s the kind of night where the lights are low, the playlist’s on point, and the wine is flowing—funky reds, crisp skin-contact whites, and chilled bottles you’ve never heard of but instantly love. With this Calla Camero x Arden Waikiki collab, expect a come-as-you-are crowd—industry folks, creatives, wine lovers, and the wine-curious—all vibing over our winebar pupu menu, glasses poured with zero attitude, and that buzz of discovery you only get when good wine meets great company. The Vibes, from Arden wine guy, Jon: The most fun that you will ever have with a glass of wine in your hand is at a place called Le Majestique in Montreal, Quebec. This place is dark and cramped. The tables are the size of a steering wheel. They have Heinz Ketchup Cans as planter boxes on the walls. The place is packed every night of the week. Some people come wearing heels and a cocktail dress. Others rock the Chuck's with a pair of baggy overalls (my friend Renee). If you are hungry, the menu is wine-bar elegant, but irreverent to the point of madness. They have a 12 inch long Hot Dog topped with cabbage and crispy potato. They have a cone of Fries that is taller than a wine bottle. If you get a plate of oysters, they garnish it with a small children's toy for no reason at all. All spring, they have a plate of perfectly chilled snow crab legs that you dip in lemony aioli on special whenever they can get it. Most importantly, they have wine. Natural Wine. They have 2 Daves who open whatever they feel like for the night; that is what they have available by the glass. Mostly, these are wines that are fuzzy from skin contact or are crunchy and mineral like a Songkran waterfight. The wine comes from "who-knows-where" and the grape is a field blend of "who-gives-a-fuq". It doesn't matter because you've never tasted anything like this in your life. These are wines that are ice-cold and delicious, and all-of-a-sudden, your glass is empty and it is time to try something else. In French, the term for this style of wine is "vin de soif". It means Wine for your Thirst. These wines are deliberately juicy and highly crushable. I call them Party Wines. Natural wines are ALIVE. You don't need a fancy pin and 4 levels of wine school to tell you that wines like this are special. Natural wines are a vibe, and the vibes at Le Majestique are immaculate. Calla and I want to bring a bit of this energy to Hawaii for a night.
