   An afternoon lunch at ARDO is like taking a step into a local neighbourhood join in Palermo, Sicily. There is no ocean view, but there is a sense of warm hospitality, excellent ingredients and good classic Sicilian dishes. We shared a Burrata & Polpo to start, then a Salsiccia & Tartufo, followed by a classic Cannoli.

   Our second experience at Ardo was even better than the first. Our reservation was for 8:00 pm, when we thought it would be quieter, but being a Saturday night, it was lively. We were seated near the front, which was indeed quieter, and we were able to carry on a conversation with our friend who was visiting from New York City. She felt right at home in this wonderful urban eatery. We shared the olives, burrata, and panelle...all excellent, and then each ordered the same gnocchi dish (mine substituted gluten-free penne). When we visited the first time, my wife asked the bartender to make her a custom cocktail that she had invented. The second time we visited, more than a month later, the bartender remembered the mix and served her up one while we perused the menu. Ardo has quickly become our favourite restaurant...good food, excellent hospitable service, great ambience, and great value.

   Always excellent! I never vary from the mushroom gnocchi. We order take out often as well.

   Ardo is always a step above other restaurants in Toronto, with excellent, thoughtfully prepared good, and attention to your cravings and needs. Everyone is friendly and welcoming to all guests, with a gentle air of expertise and quiet competence.

   A terrific meal as always in this established local neighborhood haunt. It’s always interesting to see who you may run into, from movers and shakers in the city to your neighbour. An authentic taste of Sicily in Toronto.
