Matt and his father started the Baldassari Family Wines brand in 2003 as a tribute to his grandfather. His grandfather,Vincenzo Baldassari emigrated from Italy and lived out the American dream creating a great life for himself in America. He would often take Matt down to the basement of his house and show him the wine he had made. He would make a single barrel every year and it was one of his proudest accomplishments each year.

Our tasting lounge is set in beautiful downtown Windsor, CA. It was designed with the urban tasting room customer in mind, set up with cozy chairs, booths, and tables in a lovely rustic, industrial style. Baldassari is a small, family run winery that pairs father Dom and son Matt working together in both wine making and the lounge. Enjoy an entire portfolio of 90 point wines either inside our cozy lounge or outside on our patio.

2016 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
The 2016 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a blend of clones Eden and 828 from the eastern bench area within the Russian River Valley appellation. We chose clones for this area that would coax out the full potential of the Pinot Noir grapes complexity, structure and dept. When these clones are ultimately blended together the result is a richly-textured, fleshy Pinot Noir, with bright acidity, pure berry aromas and notes of spice and earth
2016 Nolan Vineyard, Bennett Valley Syrah
We source our Syrah grapes from Nolan Vineyard in Bennett Valley, Sonoma County. Bennett Valley has large areas of ancient volcanic soil that is well drained and provides the right balance for grapevines in order to grow high quality wine grapes. The area is also a cooler grape growing region due to the gap adjacent to the Sonoma Mountain which allows cool fog to dump into the valley and blanket it most nights. The result? Long growing seasons and concentrated fruit with deep color and flavors. Our Syrah is inky purple, bursting with dark blackberry fruit and rich in texture
2017 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
We source our grapes from the Sonoma Coast Viticulture Area. The Sonoma Coast is one of California's best cool climate growing regions. The foggy mornings, chilly evenings and generally cooler temperatures allow heat sensitive varieties like Chardonnay to thrive and develop intense varietal character. This wine has only partial Malolactic Fermentation and the flavors reflect the area where it is grown. Exotic fruit and texture focused around a juicy core of juicy acidity make this wine both delicious and intense in varietal character
2017 Asti Ranch, Alexander Valley Malbec
We source our Malbec from Asti Ranch near the town of Cloverdale in Sonoma County. Asti Ranch is located at the hot Northern end of Alexander Valley on rocky depleted soil, where the vines struggle to make it through the growing season each year. The vines produce small yields from this site because of the difficult growing conditions. The resulting clusters and berries are dark with intense sweetness and flavor. We harvest our Malbec early in the morning when it is chilly to preserve freshness and do no processing, we ferment it 100% whole cluster (stems not removed) with its native yeast. The result is a inky dark wine that is seductive in aroma and flavor. Intense berry and violet aromas jump from the glass. Rich, layered tannins let you know this is a serious wine, yet it has enough silkyness that you can still drink it in its youthful age

The pricing on Open Door was not very clear. The truffle pairing was listed as $20.00. I was just a bit surprised when I learned that was in addition to the cost of the wine tasting. So the cost of four people with a truffle pairing was around $200. More than twice the amount I thought I was going to spend. Otherwise the experience was quite nice, the wines were wonderful and truffles were tasty. Just wish I had gone in knowing the actual price.

The Co owner was informative and cordial. His pleasant demeaner made the wine tasting more enjoyable. We purchased the 3 available wines and are putting them up for special a occasion. We will be back!

You have to taste these wines. I am a wine snob and I was blown away. _The Pinot is very "new world" style with LOTS of flavor in the glass _The Syrah is a big boy that will pair well with steak, duck, etc, _the big hit however is the Malbec. Freaking Delicious.
