   There was a limited choice of vegetarian .. and when I had my tarragon and mushroom pie sadly it came out with mash instead of sautee potatoes that was advertised on the menu. As I’m not a keen fan of mash sadly. The Mediterranean pasta was a little bland and could have done with a garnish on top like Parmesan cheese . But the staff were lovely and accommodating.

   We chose the two courses for £13.00 which was amazing value, kids had Hunters chicken …. Said it was delicious. My husband had burger which he was raving about. I had mushroom & tarragon pudding (it was tasty but was a pie not a pudding & sadly did not come with new potatoes as advertised but instant mash). It was nicely presented & good value. Wouldn’t have wanted to have paid full price for mine.

   Visited the Balfour on Sunday with my wife and with my sister. We each opted for a starter, Sunday roast and a pudding and all three courses were absolutely outstanding. Never been here before but absolutely will come back again. Best roast I have had for years. Decent price, and really good, friendly atmosphere.

   No one else eating in restaurant Had to move table as we could smell people smoking No waiter service. I had hot cheesecake!! Defrosted too much!!

   No tartare sauce with fish and chips and scampi and chips. Instead of apologies gave us mayonnaise and hoped we wouldn’t notice!

   The staff were very friendly we didn’t have to wait long for the food which was served hot. The prof was in the empty plates. There had been a party in the afternoon and there were still people around but we found a corner which was perfect.

   The Easter roast beef was tender, the peas were crunchy (not mushy), the veggie sides were very good, all just as I like them. Kudos to the chef!

    Two course set menu not available despite being advertised outside. Wine ordered not available and alternative served without asking. Quality of meals disappointing. Service without a smile!
