We offer homestyle cooking with a German attitude. This forty year old family-owned and operated restaurant is located just off historic Whyte Avenue and is about as close as it gets to home-style, rib-sticking, comfort food that you will get. Whether you want a big breakfast to get you through the day, or, if you fancy some old fashioned German style food in the evening or at lunch - we have both. Our signature dishes include homemade white-wine hollandaise on our eggs Benedict, our German style bratwurst and pork schnitzel, and our gigantic eye-popping hotcakes. We are also open Friday and Saturday nights for our German style buffet which changes each week and lets you try a little bit of everything.

It was our first time here but knew about the place for years !! My only disappointment was that we had not stopped here sooner !!!😁😁😁 The food was so good just like home cooking I would recommend this place to everyone and we will defiantly be back !!! 😁😁😁

We decided to take in the German buffet on Saturday. The food selection was good, no surprises, tasty but maybe a bit overpriced for the amount of choice available. The biggest problem is the place overall is a bit grimy. The drink menu and condiment bottles on the table were dirty and sticky, as well as the tray they were sitting on. The decor is tired and worn out. I get the current owners are probably trying to maintain the sentimental value that was created by the original Barb and Ernie but the furniture and the space are DONE. Time to renovate!

What a great experience. Great food. Great variety on the buffet (we went on a Friday night) and there wasn't one I tried that I didn't like - no need to add salt or pepper at this place as it's all flavoured great to start with. And to top it off, there were so many choices for dessert that we wished we hadn't eaten so much. Wonderful evening. Will definitely return, but will have to rest my stomach for a month before I stretch it again - so yummy I just couldn't stop eating.

Large group and was pleasantly surprised how quickly and accurately our order came to the table. Lots of service for coffee and anything we needed. Excellent brunch menu and amount of food. Highly recommended!

I always have an amazing time every time I have dinner here. The staff is super friendly, and always joke with us, and the food is consistently delicious! I would highly recommend Barb & Ernies!

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Half of our party was late making it to breakfast However; we never felt rushed or as if we were an inconvenience in any way. The food was very good and we all enjoyed ourselves. Will definitely be returning in the future!
