    Golf group of 8 for dinner, Kara really took care of us. Our table had a number of different dishes and everything was really good.

    Our waiter James was fantastic. We had the filet, tallow fries & Mac & cheese. All were great. Steak was perfectly good & very good quality. Fries were crispy with a nice dipping sauce. Macaroni and cheese was creamy with a nice crispy breadcrumb topping We also got the chimichurri with the steak, which was great addition. It was a little bit pricey, but considering where you are, pretty much in line. Great experience. Highly recommend.

    Everything took forever and once it came out wasn’t all that great either. The manager apologized and cut a chunk off our bill, but still not a great experience. Probably won’t be back for awhile

    Very excited to eat here. Was disappointed to say the least. Had a reservation for 4 at 8pm. Didn’t get seated till 8:25pm. Waiter was not attentive to our table. Smallest pour of wine I’ve ever had. 4oz pour of wine. Ordered a salad with no flavor. Each of us order a different steak. Not worth the cost. The restaurant need to improve in all areas.

    Absolutely fabulous from start to finish. The many dishes we ordered came at exactly the right time—we never felt rushed. The food was outstanding and photo-worthy. Friendly and competent servers were a delight. And the views were indescribable! Overall, a great dining experience in a town that really needs more restaurants like this.

    The food was good… mushroom pasta dish delicious. We paired it with the au jus chicken which worked because the chicken by itself was not remarkable. Excellent service. Oh and we had the creme brûlée which came with a variety of little tasty treats on the side.. very nice. Wine by the glass were exorbitantly priced.. to the point we chose to have a beer instead. Would suggest offering some lower priced wines by the glass. The seating is arranged weirdly so that if you have a table for two you either have your back to the whole restaurant or a seat right in the middle of the floor. Quite odd. Would suggest reconfiguration

    I hosted a dinner for a business group at Basalt,  an extraordinary restaurant in St. George Utah.  located at the magnificent Black Desert Resort, all of my expectations were exceeded.  I’ve eaten in restaurants around the world, this is among my top culinary experiences.  not inexpensive, however, the meal was worth the money we spent.  the steaks were top-notch and perfectly prepared.  rare came out rare, medium rare, came out perfectly done.  The steak tartar was as good as any I’ve had on the continent.   The accompanying sauces were simple and fresh. Nothing overdone or overpowering.  The service was low-key, professional, and appropriately attentive. If you are in St. George and you are looking for a celebratory meal or just an amazing dinner, I cannot recommend Basalt highly enough.
