Leisurely cafe by day, Bastia transforms to a Mediterranean restaurant by night and draws culinary inspiration from the sun-drenched islands of Corsica and Sardinia

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Tyler Akin

From the OpenTable editors: Acclaimed chef Tyler Akin is back with Bastia, his stylish Mediterranean restaurant inside Fishtown’s Anna & Bel hotel. Snag a seat at one of the green marble bar tops or at a cozy table by the fireplace to dig into seafood-forward dishes like sea urchin butter tartine paired with playful cocktails and riffs on classic aperitivi. Either way, the all-day cafe is made for lingering, just like his beloved and now-shuttered Res Ispa was.

Isabella and Faith were some of the most attentive, professional, and friendly people we have ever come across during a dining experience. The ambiance was comforting and welcoming, while not being too "stuffy". The food was out. Of. This. World. I would have paid twice the price without question. Even if you're not in town, schedule a trip just to come here. Can’t wait to come back!

I think Wesley, the bartender, helped make our dinner so nice. We love to enjoy dinner at the bar and he had great recommendations and knowledgable answers for our questions. No doubt, we will be back soon!

Terrific ambiance, but the food was the star. Creative and delicious (mostly) Corsican mediterranean. This is NOT your mother's Italian or Greek fare. Interesting wine list too.

2nd visit to Bastia and will be back for a 3rd very soon. The monk fish dinner special MUST become a permanent fixture on the menu. Literally one of the best meals I’ve ever had! Stay a little longer and explore the cocktail bar next door. Such a great addition to our Fishtown neighborhood!

The food was trying too hard to be something it doesn’t need to be.

This was my third trip to Bastia and this time it was a bit different. The food was very good my first two trips and then last night I was blown away. The flavors were crisper. The chances taken were greater. And the creativity was on a level not often seen in Philadelphia. The service and ambience as always was at a very high level. Bravo Bastia!

OMG, OMG, OMG--What else can we say? We now know why Bastia was rated #1 in Philadelphia Magazines survey of Top 50 Restaurants for 2025. We remember Chef from his days at Res Ipsa--told our dining companions to definitely try anything he made with pasta, seafood and tapenade--and he did not fail! We had a snug booth in the rear of the restaurant for our daughter's birthday celebration dinner. Hayden was our solicitious (and fun!) server and the pacing of the entrees arriving was perfetto. And those cocktails, drinks and ADD's (after dinner drinks)? Superb. Bastia will become such a destination that I fear we'll have to wait in long lines to ever dine there again, but certainly glad we made the cut before word spreads how delicious this place truly is. Well done!
