About this restaurant

Bata is a restaurant designed to celebrate the best our region has to offer. We cook over a live oak fire, on our custom fabricated hearth. Our menu changes daily. We mill AZ grown grain in house, daily. We focus on whole animal butchery, done in house. We have an extensive fermentation program. Our bar program largely focuses on wines that are organic, biodynamic, and produced with minimal intervention. The cocktail list highlights the best products of the season, with a carefully curated list of spirits from across the globe. We believe that our hospitality is just as important as the food and beverages we put on the table.

We do not encourage our restaurant for young children. We do not have any highchairs in house and ask that you please bring your own if it is required.

We do not offer any outdoor seating. Private dining, kitchen counter and large party seating available. Email hello@batatucson.com for inquiries.

    Our second time here and it was as delicious as the first. An experience you need to have. Each course was perfectly done. I highly recommend Bata.

    Interesting menu that changes daily and includes small bites in addition to salad/appetizers and entrees. Our waiter Oliver did a great job explaining it. Our meal was excellent. Loved the choice of small bites as often an appetizer and then an entree is too much food for us. We shared the meatballs and a tartlet. For entrees we had the ham with broccolini and the vol au vent with cod, both delicious. The venue is edgy, exposed, very high ceilings, great atmosphere. It was a memorable evening in every way.

    This is our “go-to” restaurant for special occasions or for when we have out of town visitors who we want to impress with a great dinner experience. Bata showcases why Tucson has a UNESCA designation as a city of gastronomy. There are only two cities with this designation in the U.S., Tucson and San Antonio.

    The service was amazing. The ambience was nice. There was something a little “off” with every dish. The mushrooms were overcooked and stringy. Some of the food was too acidic and not balanced flavor-wise. We were disappointed with the food, especially for the price point.

    This was among the best meals of my life. We had a table of five and opted for the chef's choice service (this is not what it's called but along those lines) and every dish was an innovative combination of textures and flavors. The conversation centered on the food, what we loved and why, and assembling the "perfect bite" of each dish. So much fun. Whatever you do, do NOT skip the Malwach or that fabulous trout!
