Ordered medium rare steak, arrived more medium well. Seemed unrested as very firm to cut and dry. The meat almost seemed pre oven cooked as only mild searing on outside but as mentioned fully cooked inside. Sent it back and replacement arrived cooked the same. So if you expect a thick cut sirloin you’ll get one, but do not expect a nice searing and juicy centre, you’ll be very disappointed. Such a shame as a thick piece of meat can be nicely charred for flavour but rested with a melt in the middle texture if prepared right. Lazy cooking here! Lots of pre-cooked elements on plates makes for disappointing meals.

We visited Bayards Cove as a group of 6, having prebooked for Sunday Lunch. We were not disappointed. We tried the smoked mackerel pate off the specials, mushroom arancini and white bait to start. All really lovely. Then we had the Devon Beef Roast. The beef was cooked lovely, beautifully pink. Massive Yorkshire pudding, beautiful cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, red cabbage, carrots and very lovely beef gravy. My daughter had the mac & cheese off the kids menu which she loved. We also tried the fish of the day which was plaice and cooked perfect. We had a really nice bottle of Rose called Crazy Tropez. Amazing food and fabulous service. Would highly recommend.

My stand out memory from our evening was the wonderful service from the 3 ladies, led by Andrea. Good natured, attentive and delivered with a great sense of humour. Thank you, all. Would go back just for the service. So refreshing. Lovely ambience. Good food rather than exceptional food. Would definitely go back. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Excellent sea bass fillets. Very pleasant, light and modern restaurant in an old, beamed building. Menu not overly ambitious enabling top quality dishes to be served.

My meal was cold and my husband’s lukewarm so we sent it back. The second time my husband’s was fine but mine cold Again. The staff did take the meals and 1 drink off our bill! However it was so disappointing. We were celebrating my birthday
