About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for creative cocktails
  • Hot spot
Beauty & Essex has an innovative design that starts in the restaurant’s entrance, a well-curated modern-day pawn shop replete with a saxophone, boombox, quirky artifacts, vintage treasures, and an eclectic array of “one-off” pieces of jewelry. Continuing past the pawnshop, guests encounter a grand, circular staircase wrapped around a two-story custom chandelier, but only the adventurous will discover all that Beauty & Essex has to offer. With four distinct dining rooms (one private), two bars, a lounge, and a women’s bathroom complete with a salon including a luxurious sofa, and antique perfume bottles. The cuisine, much like the design, is intended to set a new course. Chef Chris Santos was one of the pioneers of the small, share plate dining trend that has swept the nation, and with the Beauty & Essex menu, he once again has created waves on the food scene.

The building’s exterior was deceiving—we almost turned back, thinking we’d arrived at the wrong place, but the experience was delightful once inside. We’ll visit again

Thank you for ruining my boyfriend’s birthday. The lack of communication at this establishment is out of this world.its funny because when it comes to letting the costumers know about the rules such as the 15 minutes grace period they are very straightforward and non understanding at all. We called to inform that we were running a little late due to traffic and without sympathy they told us that we needed to be there at 7:15 pm the latest (luckily for us we made it right on time). I specifically inform the hostess that it was a birthday celebration and that I brought a cake for my boyfriend’s birthday. My boyfriends was behind me and it was supposed to be a surprise and the hostess kept talking about the birthday cake protocol, she informed as about the protocol where they need to check the cake in order to be sure everything is fine when they present the cake at the table. You see? Following all these rules… for what? For you to FORGET about the birthday cake at the end?????? When we were at the table they never offered us a water option, they start right with can I get you something to drink? How about water first? the food was good, and the aesthetic of the place was nice as well, but the whole cake fiasco was simply just unacceptable. Our server informed us that the host never informed him about the birthday cake, and basically the cake was forgotten who knows where… then the hostess showed up giving us a LAME apology offering us drinks but hello!!! You don’t fix this with lame cocktails… (by the way, the cocktails were so gross) we were done. Anyways… absolutely disappointing, I do not recommend this place if you are going to celebrate a birthday or anything, it was truly embarrassing for me, my boyfriend and our friends…

As usual, the food was amazing. We were a little disappointed with the bone marrow as the bones had more of the toppings than it did have a marrow nevertheless, we had a wonderful time and will be back again. The drinks were to die for happy the lychee martinis that were just added are yummy

The experience was a hit from the start. We put a birthday and the occasion and under special requests, and the staff ensured it was communicated! That made everything feel special and personalized. Nicholas was our waiter whom was knowledgeable and respectful of our ideal portions and how much to order. The food was amazing and delicious! We had the grilled cheese and tomato soup dumplings, the ahi poke tacos, the bone marrow, the scallops, and the burger! Drinkwise, the pawn shop was delicious.

The most unorganized, disrespectful and blatantly rude professional experience myself and my team have ever encountered. Utterly disgusted at the way myself and my team were treated. Little accountability, no compensation for the multitude of eras and considering I spoke to several people on their staff in the weeks leading up to this reservation both over the phone and via email, to then be met with this was mortifying. I will be letting everyone internally and with our network to never dine here. How they can operate like this is beyond me.
