   First of all, the food WAS very good. That we really enjoyed. The rest of our experience was less than expected. I got there first. The hostess came over and told her I had a reservation and she looked at me like I spoke another language. Odd. She grabbed two menus and I followed her. She put them on the table on one side and walked away. Didn’t say anything to me. Sat down and waited. Our waitress came over and she was NOT wanting to be there. I personally saw her rolling her eyes as she walked away from our table and other tables. She never once smiled or was friendly. My dinner was ready first and came out but my friend was waiting on her pizza so my food was getting cold as we’re were waiting. My friend actually had to ask where her food was and she said the pizza is taking a little longer. She should have told us that and not brought out one meal and not the other. When it did come out, it was very good as was my food. She asked us if wanted dessert so we looked at the menu and a few minutes later she brought us the check. I also had to ask the busser to refill the water with ice which the waitress came over and refilled that. Sadly we will not be back. This waitress may need a reminder about friendliness. It goes a long way.

   One of our favorites. The best pizza, outstanding risottos, all-around excellent food. Menu changes frequently (bring back salad with heirloom tomatoes!). Friendly, welcoming, pleasant dining room. Patio great in mild weather.

   Very good appetizers although wish the burrata was 4 pieces since there is usually 2 or 4 people. Husbands Boar pasta was delicious….Mushroom pizza was very good but needed more truffle flavor. Atmosphere was nice, a bit noisy but tolerable. Love the building. Will def go back

   We had a large table in the bar area. it's actually my favorite area in Birroteca, as it puts you in the lively area(bar) while also providing a more isolated space and seating that encourages conversation. Beer selection is phenomenal, as usual! Unfortunately, the restaurant has issues. Firstly, the food is marginal. Decent, good at times, but never really good nor great. Nothing on the menu really hits home. Not the pizza, not the apps, not the other entrees (largely Italian fare). Wine selection, according to the wine drinkers, is poor. Service is uniformly mediocre as well. Our server was clearly hurrying us and it was very annoying. It may be the same everywhere, but they need to realize that tips are based partly on that, and also the annoyance factor actually SLOWS DOWN the table turnover. In this case, none of that mattered, as the restaurant and bar were largely cleared out by 9pm, so all the rushing attempts were for naught. Would I return? Yes! The atmosphere truly is nice. But my expectations of Birroteca, especially food and service, have been quite low for a long time.

   This is our go-to restaurant and we dine here multiple times a month. This was my second time this week. Our party had a reservation at 6:45. We arrived at 6:42pm and were told to wait at the bar (no seats) as the table before us hadn’t left. The hostess was lacking in all aspects —— there was a party of 2 seated at a table for 6/8 and an empty table of two. We watched another party (also of 3 people ) get immediately seated in the dining room after we had been waiting for over 15 minutes. We asked the hostess if we could pull a third chair up to the table of 2 and we were told no. The hostess (again lacking in problem solving and customer service skills) was unable to seat us but kept taking other parties and seating them. When we inquired about this, she said that our reservation was for the high top area— however, after waiting for 30 minutes past our reservation, we would have been happy anywhere. Our server, once we were seated, was gracious, professional, acknowledged as we have come to expect and comped one of our desserts. The issue seems to be with solely with the hostess.
