   Great setting with beautiful French food! The chef has numerous great traditional French dishes…all cooked to perfection. We really enjoyed the French Onion Soup, followed by Beef Bour. And then upside down apple tart!

   Food was good. I had the confit duck leg with orange sauce, it was a bit salty and a bit overcooked. The beef cheeks was perfect. Crepe Suzette was really good especially the right amount of Grand Marnier in it, giving it at spectacular when light up. Overall a very good night.

   The specials were good. I chose venison for my main, which was super tender, juicy and full of flavour. The beans didn't look as fine as you would find in France, but were string free and deliciously buttery. My wife won't eat ratatouille, so was unable to choose the fish (as it came on a bed of ratatouille), which she usually has when we dine out. Could there have been two fish dishes on the menu? I can't remember exactly but, including the steaks, there were about eight main options. I don't believe there was a vegetarian option either. For me this was no problem. My wife chose the chicken and very much enjoyed it. The pudding special was delicious. A creme brûlée with verbena infusion, rather than standard vanilla. I make this myself at home myself and find it tricky - the cream can split - so had a chat with the patron at the ned of the meal. He revealed some (perhaps not all) of his secrets re the making of the dish. The verbena was home grown. A great cocktail of the moment to start with and good wines by the glass. A busy evening in the restaurant, but it is still quiet enough for a cosy romantic meal.

   We had a lovely evening, we were looked after extremely well, the menu made choices hard and the food delicious and very French! We highly recommend Bistro La Provence.

   Authentic French Provincial food in excellent environment where the ambience makes it a special night out. The three staff who were looking after the whole restaurant of about 60 people were fantastic. Absolutely run off their feet in trying circumstances but remained pleasant and as (or more) efficient as could ever be expected. We appreciated their efforts and look forward to returning when staffing is up to scratch and front of house are able to perform professionally as they would wish. The three people who carried the burden on Saturday night should be rewarded.

    The restaurant had a very lovely ambience. The food and wine matched the standard we would receive in France. And our waitress Lindsay looked after us for the night and was extremely lovely thank you.
