   Everything is perfect, except the server. We are group of 3, we want to have a bigger table (we only got table for two and an extra chair.) I ask her can we switch to the bigger one, she told us that’s for group of 4, and the reality is group of 3.

   High end organization for nothing out of the ordinary in your plate. Except the bill. At the entrance, the security is stopping people by look asking them where they go. The nice dressed people were smiled at and welcome warmly.. It starts there with a perception biais that continued all along. I am saying this as I observed this as recurrent theme during my 2 visits. Regarding the bistro: Savors were blend. Mainly disappointed by the pear and chocolate dessert which was without texture (was more an overcooked jam with chocolate mousse from your grocery store on top). The few disposed nuts (zero work on it to bring flavors) on top don’t balance it out. Lacked the fine ingredients and surprises you can expect from a dessert like this. Could have benefited of adding to the recipe a praline to play with salt/sugar, some stronger spices (cinnamon, pistachio..) add fresh pears for texture. As main plate I had the vegan gnocchi which has nothing to do with gnocchi. Let’s call this plate mashed balls instead. Outside was crusty with a layer such as a nugget and the inside was dry like a purée. It tasted as frozen mashed potatoes balls fried and then mixed in mushroom cream. It lacked the sweet flavor of the potatoe as well as the characteristic squidgy texture of the real Italian gnocchi. An alternative would have been fine if it was tasty, which wasn’t the case. Overall a poor 1 star out of 5 on the food. Spend your money on other restaurants near by which have similar price tag and real palate surprises such as “Le continental” or “aux anciens canadiens.”

   45 minutes from seating to get pellegrino and order our food. I waited 20 minutes from getting the check to then get up from my seat to ask the hostess and the manager to pay but no one could help. Worst service ever. The table that was seated as we left were greeted, got their cocktails and ordered their food within the first 10 minutes.

   Perfect place for our Christmas Eve dinner. The hotel was very busy, so we were unable to have a drink in the 1608 bar before, but they seated us on time at a table with a river view. Given how crowded the restaurant was, service was surprisingly (relatively) fast. Dinner was delicious and our red headed waiter was so nice. We would return!

   The meal that we had was exceptional. David, our server was very attentive. The entire environment was so inviting with the beautiful view of the St. Lawrence river. We can give Sam bistro the highest recommendation possible. A great experience!

    Overall, the food was good and quite affordable considering it is inside the world famous Chateau Frontenac. There was a receptionist named Hugo who is helpful since I am currently on wheelchair. He’s the one who assisted us through the wheelchair ramp, and when we are about to leave he asked if the ramp was returned so that I can exit the restaurant premises with ease.
