About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Charming
  • Good for groups
Located in Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C., Bistrot Du Coin serves up delicious French cuisine. Its very relaxed setting features picnic-style table cloths and a second floor to accommodate a packed house. Owners Yannis Felix and Michel Verdon opened Bistrot Du Coin's doors in 2000 for patrons to converse and have fun while enjoying their meals. It offers hearty starters such as French onion soup and fresh, crisp salads, steamed mussels and sautéed foie gras. Veal stew in a creamy sauce, braised chicken in white wine and pan-seared salmon topped with a fresh herb sauce are filling main courses to try.

Bistrot Du Coin hosts parties to celebrate popular French events throughout the year, and it serves brunch on the weekend with its own menu. This restaurant has an extensive wine list, but also offers cocktails and apéritif. It is open year-round and welcomes reservations.

Outstanding as usual, the food is absolutely delicious. The bread is superb, and the service was great. The ambience was excellent. We love visiting this restaurant every time we come to DC.

I’ve eaten here many times and was very disappointed last night. The service was the worst part, the food was honestly just ok. Our reservation was for 6 PM and my friend was already seated when I got there a little late. She said that the server had come by for a drink orders, but she had waited for me. The server did not come back for 30 minutes. We had to flag her down to take our wine order and because we finally had her we went ahead and put our food order in as well. She had to know she had let us sit there until 6:50 with nothing, and still no smile, barely looked at us, definitely no apology. The wine came quickly, and in not too long of a time the food. We never saw our server again for the rest of the meal. Both of us had empty wine glasses, my friend had totally finished her food, but I had slowed down because I wanted a second glass of wine. Finally we asked a bus boy if he could bring our server and then we could ask for a second glass of wine for me. I had three bites of dinner left. But no worry there because as nobody was in a rush to take our plates, I had plenty of time to finish my wine. My steak was definitely overcooked, no pink at all in a medium, the fries that came with it were not hot and the wine sauce was bland. We didn’t eat dessert, and it was still an almost 2.5 hour dinner. And why is there a 5% service charge added? On a day of terrible service, it was salt to the wound. Please add it to the cost of the food so everyone is above board about pricing. I generally love this restaurant, it is a dc staple and usually a good experience. I’m really hoping it was just a bad night.

BDC offers mediocre French cuisine for a reasonable price. There are better places but I like how they are right on Conn Ave and rarely too busy.

I was here to eat with three friends. We found everything excellent from the salad to the steak to the escargot and all the way through delicious desserts. We felt so lucky to be able to walk from our hotel and find this neighborhood French bistro with delicious food.. We all four decided we would definitely come back!

The place reminds of pairs spots for sure. Most the food was bland and lacks flavor or seasoning. The best thing we had was the rabbit. We had Mussels even two types both are a miss Escargot lacked flover so did the beef tartar, Onion supe was ok. Service was at such a low point that we wear surprised for the nations-capital, once we order he forgot we wear there, even after asking for something never got it. had to ask otheres staff for napkins or even the bill. Had high hopes for birthday meal, just disappointing.

Very reliable French bistro fare, a little noisy and brightly lit.

Came here after a work convention. Dinner was great drinks were good, only suggestion is maybe have softer butter for your bread, it was really hard to spread it since it was so cold on the bread served at our table. The restaurant was full of people of all ages laughing, smiling and gathering it was a very positive happy atmosphere and the service was great

We had a later weekday dinner here- no special occasion- on our way home It was a lovely dinner that made us feel like we had spent an hour in Paris - you know the kind of Paris restaurant- solid - good food - reasonable prices - neighborhood feel - the kind of place you resolve to come back to again because it’s just right
