   Black and Blue; lovely place with an attractive feel. It was quite noisy making conversation a difficult. A wonderful wine list at different price levels. The waitress was a bit distracted with two larger parties. There was a bit of a wait before our order was taken but after that the food was brought over promptly. One of drink orders was incorrect and had to be sent back. A salad which was requested with light dressing was soggy and tasteless. No one offered pepper. However, the oysters were fresh and delicious. The main dishes were done to perfection and the sides were quite good. Two extremely nice gestures were made. Complimentary glasses of bubbly were offered for our special occasion and the salad was removed from the bill.

   The food was absolutely amazing. Steaks were perfect. The seafood was fresh and outstanding. Service was very attentive. We had a wonderful evening and will be adding this to our list of favorite restaurants in Rochester.

   Very impressive wine list! The service was absolutely fantastic as well. My steak was cooked medium to well when I had ordered it medium rare. I politely brought it up, and I got a new steak almost immediately. The manager even came over, talked to us for a bit about the wine, and asked if there was anything else we needed. The excellent recovery made me even more satisfied with the service than if it had been medium rare to begin with. The ambiance is wonderful and intimate, yet energetic. This was our second time at Black and Blue and I sure hope we visit there again.

   Nice variety on the menu but it took over 25 minutes for our entrees (after appetizers) to be delivered (party of 3) and when they arrived, two entrees/sides were on the luke-warm side and one was barely warm. The restaurant was 80% full at the time so I can understand the wait, but there is never an excuse for luke-warm food, especially when they caution you that the plate is hot (two were not). The waiter did not stop by during the time between appetizers/entrees to check on us/explain the wait. The restaurant has potential, but needs to have better quality control.

    Why is the steak served on dangerously hot metal plates? My parents could not truly relax and enjoy their steaks because they were afraid of touching a burning metal plate-- what a stupid way to serve meat. It also kept cooking on the hot plate, from what I could tell. My boyfriend and I both enjoyed our meals-- good seafood dishes. The service was a bit questionable at the beginning of the meal-- we sat and sat with no water as myriad servers swept by our table, ignoring us. We felt distinctly un-special at first. After we flagged down a server and he found our server for us, she did a fine job.
