First licensed in 1663, The Blue Boar is one of the oldest inns in the Oxfordshire town of Chipping Norton. Alongside the traditional British pub, The Blue Boar offers visitors high quality food in its own restaurant, based in what were originally barns and stables. So after perhaps enjoying a warm welcome and a pint of wonderful local real ale, head for your table in this delightful space where original rustic features, including high beamed ceilings and exposed stone walls, where you’ll be seated on farmhouse chairs around heavy wooden tables. Less formal meanwhile, the Garden Room at the Blue Boar provides the ideal setting for summertime dining, set in a conservatory style space filled with natural light. Seasonal produce is used throughout the Blue Boar menus with their typical pub grub flavour, focus on game and simple, traditional flavours. A large selection of wines, champagnes and beers accompany food with live entertainment in the shape of local music acts.

Booked through open table and got told by blue bore they dont do online bookings so had no booking also on blue boars website it didnt say you could only have a 3 course meal and not the normal menu so went else were .seemed like the boy had no clue about the place at all

When we first walked we thought oh no as everyone turned and looked at us, but once when moved through the pub to the dining area we felt more at ease. The staff were polite and easy to speak to. The food was very good quality "pub grub". We had the starter platter then the blue boar burger. The starter was plenty for four people so nice big portion for the 2 of us. The burger was nice with plenty of chips and salad. Note if you like your meat well done then I would ask for well done. Will go again.

Food is competitively priced, and portions are generous, especially the homemade pies which are probably too big. We have taken guests there twice recently and the only problem was a half pheasant which was overcooked and dry. With hindsight we should have sent it back. The waiting staff were very helpful.

The Sunday lunch was excellent, lovely roast beef nice and hot and lots of nice fresh vegetables.

Good value, large portions, wide range of choices and a box system for taking uneaten food home, very commendable approach and some innovative dishes, especially the oxtail and chorizo pie

We went on new years day and the service was very slow. The table was sticky and although the girls serving were very nice the food was awful. My husband had the special which was pheasant and it was very tough and the potatoes were under cooked and very hard and tasteless. I had pasta which was just about edible. We will never go back there. N

Popped in on the off chance we could be served as we hadn't booked. Turned up at 3pm one Saturday recently for a bite to eat. Baguettes are tasty, lovely fillings, come with delish chips & neither of us could finish it. They provide you with a box to take home anything you can't finish for eating later when you've more room! Great service (without being intrusive), very well prepared food & ambience (even with the Rugby going on in the bar area!). This place is very much a favourite of mine which I go back to regularly for lunch, supper, drinks etc, & each time, I'm not disappointed :)

A fantastic place for both food and drink. The Decor and atmosphere were delightful and the staff attentive. The food was fantastic. Great experience all round
