   We had a wonderful afternoon tea for 4 at Bluebird Chelsea celebrating a special birthday - the first floor dining room is lovely with fun and fab furnishings and the “being in a garden” feel with all the indoor trees. Our waiter was excellent - courteous, attentive and efficient. We had extra bubbly - they serve the very good English sparkling wine Nyetimber (but it has a hefty mark up price compared to purchasing it at a wine merchant/supermarket - we accepted that as part of the price for such a great setting and delicious tea for a special occasion).

   Très bel établissement mais trop bruyant malgré le fait qu'il n'y avait pas beaucoup de monde. Agréable afternoon tea avec de très bonnes patisseries mais les sandwichs étaient légèrement secs et peu garnis. Et c'est de notre faute, mais nous n'avions pas vu qu'il y avait 14.5% de service à ajouter.

   Sunday Roast at the Bluebird is a real treat. Two tasty starters were followed by the lamb special - the shepherds pie was the best!

   The food was very good, and good value. The compulsory service charge of 14.5% is higher than most and bumps the price up significantly. We loved the layout and ambiance of the restaurant. Service was without exception efficient and polite, but we all felt it was just wasn't very friendly which is a great shame. A welcoming and friendly approach costs nothing and stays in the memory.

    Firstly we were kept waiting to be seated for over 20 minutes past our allocated slot. The communication was appalling and in the end, I had to resort to saying we would be leaving if we were not seated soon. The service was very slow (just not enough staff on) all the food was cold, my husband almost choked several times as his fish was full of bones in the end he gave up on it. And left it. My steak should have been medium when in fact it was raw in places and as tough as old boots with lots of gristle totally inedible . The side of greens were cold and almost raw. The chips were cold and soggy. Very disappointing at a £150 per head. We have had a few off meals at the blue bird, but this one was the worst. Will never go back.
